Rough Hugging..

Recommended Posts

So like, I got hugged last night by a lot of people, but one of the people I think cracked, or bruised my rib, because it HURTS!!! The guy that hugged me felt the ribcage crack, and then he hugged slightly harder, and it cracked a tad more (or at least that's what it felt like)..

So like.. has this happened to any of you before?

There's like nothing I can do about bruised or cracked ribs is there?

If your rib were cracked...you would CRY when you breathed...and there should be a HUGE bruise...

There are joints in the rib-cage...they are called 'fixed joints' I think...

...one of them probably 'cracked' as a knuckle or spine would...

..it happens to me ALL the time...near daily...

..seek a Doc, if there is swelling, or discolouration...or if pain becomes exasperating...or pain is continuous for over 12-36 hours (depending on personal pain tolerance, and the level of pain... :jamin

it's more annoying than anything else.. I don't see bruising, I can feel it when I move my arm much over my shoulder, and when I breathe deep, it's annoying.. I think i'm fine, but DANG! remind me not to hug people whom I THINK may be able to pick me up.. ouch!!!

Yes and it hurt me titties. I usually just say hey take it easy I am made of china and break easy!

And when I worked in a constuction office I actually had to use hand grips to make my hands stronger cause those guys seem to want to hurt you even if your only 4ft 11 and weigh 98 lbs with these

'I am powerful he man' hand shakes. Bullies. I am sure they are thinking I took a job away from a man or someshit. Cause its uncalled for.

Seriously if you broke a rib go get it looked at and make him pay the bill.

You probably just bruised it, or pulled something. Sometimes your bones make noise when they shift or rub against each other, but no real damage is done.

Alternate hot and cold, and try to move that arm as little as you can for the next couple days. Don't pick up anything heavy with that arm. Take ibuprofen (up to 800mg or 4 tablets depending on how bad the pain is) to help with the pain and swelling. If it still hurts by Thursday get it X-rayed.

I always seem to do something fun that involves the doctors or the hospitals around my birthday..

yay me!!!

If this persists, I will not be going out this weekend.. *sighs*

Apparently I'm a lot more fragile than I thought.. :/

Awww :grouphug

If it's any consolation, 3 days before my 27th birthday I was hospitalized for my gallbladder. They wanted to do surgery to remove it the day before my birthday(New Years Eve). I got very upset and explained the situation to them. They agreed to let me reschedule the surgery for 2 weeks later so I could go out, but I couldn't drink or dance, so it was limited fun anyway.

A while ago I was at City and fell into a chair and the arm of the chair smashed into my ribcage(yeah I was drunk), and I was worried I had cracked a rib too. I did the stuff I mentioned in my post above and about 2 days later I barely even felt it. Just make sure your are taking a NSAID (non-steriod anti-inflamatory painkiller) like ibuprofen or aspirin. The doctors I used to work for said that was the best thing for injuries with swelling.
