Meh...I like my city the way it is, decrepid, abandoned, and full of free cool stuff just lying around everywhere...

Hmmph *pouts*

Maybe though, if this is true, I can be an extra in some movies and possibly work my way up from there. I can actually act like a mother fucker, believe it or not.

I've got a buddy who does set designs for movies in Detroit. He told me there is a place in Lansing where you go to get your permits for everything you have planned for your movie making in Michigan. Typically, there are around 7 applications a year. This year, there are already over 40.

There have been a lot of movies lately that either took place in Detroit or were (partially) filmed in Detroit.

Parts of "The Island" (2005) were supposedly filmed in Detroit. I only saw that movie once, so I can't really remember.

"Four Brothers" took place in Detroit, although I believe most of it was actually filmed in Canada.

There are others, but these are the two that came to mind first.

I guess filmmakers are finally getting sick of filming in New York City and Los Angeles.

Some scenes for the Transformers movie was filmed here. I used to have a contact in the independent film industry. Was working on getting some of us as extras in a movie she was in but she moved and I have no interest in going thru my ex to hook up as an extra but if anyone else is interested. I can give you her website. She will post when a movie is looking for extras and how to contact her with the info they want.
