plus size and bbw

All my closest friends are female, so I've gone on dozens (if not a couple of hundred) of shopping expeditions over the years. In so doing, I've reached the following (and fairly specific) conclusion about myself: if a woman doesn't have enough hips 'n ass to fill out at least a size 8, I'm not going to find her attractive...not at first, anyway. Very generally speaking, size 8-14 is where it's at for me. I've had maybe half a dozen partners who were size 16 and up, and an equal number who were size 4 and down. I can think of only one instance where it took less than a season to begin to find them attractive.

Having said all that...I'm much more attuned to height than weight. Under 5'6", and I tend not to see you.

I like a little meat with my taters! haha. I just had to say it. I hate the term bbw. I mean, I'm fluffy (shut up, I like that term mmmmmmmmmkay?) but why the fuck do I need a term anyways? I'm just me, man!!! Like I don't refer to thin people as "THP" = them hungry people. And not all bbw's are bbw. Some are bfb=big fugly bitches.

Hmm I know some of those...

Now I'm a plus size girl, although I used to be 120-130lbs when I was a teenager. Granted at that time I was bulimic, so in the long run I'd rather have my boobs and curves than what I used to be since it wasn't to pretty. I'm generally happy with myself, I could stand to lose a few pounds but I'm okay with me at this point in time, which is quite unusual.

As for the type of guy I go for, my normal type is a guy who is on the skinny side but muscular. But the the eyes are what I go for the most...he has to have eyes that just suck you in when you look in them.

Why would you date them in the first place if you didn't initially find them attractive?? I could NEVER be with someone who wasn't into me... and yes, I can tell.

Hmm.. healthy.. don't know what I think about that. :/

In our culture "healthy" means "extra curvy"... not obese but, hm, in the 16-20 range. Don't hear it much nowadays, I guess the current equivalent would be "thick".

Maybe he means that he knew them that long before being interested enough to date? I can think of situations where that happened... sometimes it can take a while to truly see the inner person. I find that once I LIKE someone, they become attractive to me even if they weren't at first. Not just in a romantic sense, either. It's like the inner self gradually overlays the surface. Not just physical looks, either- some people have attitudes or mannerisms that can take time to get past.

Looking back I realize I never really answered the original question. So. I definitely prefer curvy women... the classic hourglass shape with nicely-rounded limbs, cushy thigns, and so on. Say, in the 12-20 range. Honey Hellfire (who I'd never heard of before- thanks Goth Brooks!) is just about my ideal. Men, I like substantial guys these days... not necessarily the full on bear type, just solid. Although the wiry Iggy Pop thing has its charm, too! Can't imagine being intimate with a morbidly obese person of either gender... for one thing, the physical logistics are kind of daunting. And I'd be afraid they'd have a stroke or heart attack or something.

That one took me aback too . From a medical standpoint it's actually better for your body to be slighly underweight than overweight at all. Like for people who've seen me recently, tecnically, medically speaking, I'm slightly in the danger zone where my weight can affect my health. People would call me crazy for saying that, but it's true, especially if you're the type like me where you tend to carry more of your weight in your stomach instead of in your ass and thighs.

SO...for those who think overweightness is aethetically pleasing, that's cool whatever floats your boat, but don't ever go around calling it healthy, because it just plain isn't. If you're out of your BMI (and I'm talking getting an actual BMI test at your doctor's, not on the internet) then you're most likely not healthy, that's why they have BMI in the first place. Even being minorly overweight can have negative effects on your body, namely your heart and cardio system.

Okay then if "healthy" means "extra curvy" I don't fit into that bracket either if that's a size 16-20 (for the record, I've never been a size 16-20). I must be just PLAIN curvy, and feel that I am FAR from being Healthy (in the real sense) ... I guess I can be okay with that (curvy).

The more weight I lose, I realize that I will always BE "curvy" because my boobs ain't going away (some, but not all). I also like when I'm feeling especially thin on a particular day my hip bones are starting to protrude, and my hourglass figure is re-emerging, instead of the rolly polly that I always feel. Even if I got into a size 8 or 6, I think I'd STILL look a bit more round than some of my other counterparts of same dimensions, I think it partially has to do with body image, and also height. I am short. I will always be short, can't change it too much, not even with my platform heels. *sighs*

Good post. Basically (and EVERYONE'S build is different) but generally speaking anything up to a size 14-16 would generally be considered a healthy weight. For the record, I believe right now I'm at a size 18 and I've got a gut going .

And you're not SHORT...you just make me look a lot taller . Nothing wrong with being short because trust me, being tall makes you feel like everyone's looking at you all the time and it never fails to make me feel like a dude when I'm standing around other chicks .

My goal for the end of the year is to be a size 6-8 :)

A. I was not saying that being overweight is "healthy" in the literal sense, just making an observation about an expression that's used in African American culture... it sounded like someone was using the term in much the same sense I grew up hearing, and I found it amusing. Actually, some sources think it's a mispronunciation of "hefty".

B. It's not that cut & dried, you will find plenty of medical & nutrition folks who believe that the current height/weight "health" ideals are culturally biased and unrealistic. I am not belittling your knowledge because I know you have a background in this area, just saying there are other perspectives. :respect:

And Hunhee, when I met you last winter, I thought you were perfect and perfectly luscious... but... you should look the way you want'a look, not how I like you to look! But you're right, dress size is not a much better indicator of what someone actually LOOKS like than height/weight (which I find utterly useless). Perhaps I should've just used "like me" as a descriptor for "healthy". :welcome:
