Parking @ CC

Recommended Posts

Where would be the best/cheapest/safest place to park? When I went there last a few years ago, there was a parking structure we parked in, but I couldn't find it while driving around. I ended up parking on the street right down from the hotel, but it had a "No Parking 3am-7am" sign and I was paranoid I'd be towed.

So where should one park? And how much is the parking there?

I keep on parking in the lot just north of the ramada, if the ramada's lot is full. I've been happy with the results thus far. The first street on the block along the side of the gated ramada lot is ok too, but I wouldn't park on the second block. :fear

WTF is up with the 'you may be towed at any time' BS??? :blink

when the hell did they start that?

if you havent heard (i didnt know til last night, when i saw all the signs around the club) they say that if you are parking in any of teh 'unattended city lots without paying, you could be towed at any time'.

apparently this has happened to a few people?

anyone have any more info on whats up? sounds like the city squeezing for more $$ to me... <_<

Those signs have been up since as long as i can remember (at least er 7-8+ years) maybe they added more recenlty but i remember very early on when i first started going to city club. I've never had any problems. I've had at least 4-5 detroiters that live down there basicly tell me "yeah right , saturday night, downtown detroit... the cops got better things to do.." heh. Im not advising you to park by thoes signs though, no need, theres plenty of other places to park unless you get there late-late.

Ask around long enough and you'll find one person that has had a problem, with their car getting broken into or some other problem , then that story gets told enough times, thus scaring everyone else into thinking its a common occurance. (same priciple why opinion polls show high concern over the crime rate in recent years, yet crime overall is much lower than it historically has been)

Get down there early enough and theres plenty of parking options is the easiest solution. The later you get there the less options you have.

Parking right there on the street were all the lights are near the area where you pull into the ramada inn if you want "free" and "well lit".

I tradtionally parked in the parking structure , but since the car accident (and its been closed) we've been parking on the street, wherever we can find a spot. (around 11-11:30 we'eve never not been able to find one reasonably close to the CC entrance, later than that it starts getting hard)

no, i mean the sign that CC put up all over the place. like on every door/wall as you enter. the paper ones.

i usually get there after 1 (the old lady's rubbed off on me) and just park in one of the lots (supposedly where they now tow from). noramally id say "yea right, its detroit" too. but ive heard from two people recently, besides seeing the notices CC put up.

makes me think something is up.

I used to do impounds/repos, so I am paranoid because those streets are prime territory for impounding. I was highly surprised that my car was still there. If I was towing out there, I would rape the area weekly. Sucks to hear, but money's money, and that place is $200-$400 a night easy for one driver.

i either park in the iron fenced in lot, if i get there early enough or the lot behind the fenced in lot walking around the fence sucks but it is allways been safe for us. We pay about $7 or less for each lot and i have never had a problem in either place, other then sometime i get a cheaper price which i find wierd but i am not arguing about it as long as it dont get charged over $10.

I was just thinking how nice it was when that damn fence was not there and you could walk through the lot and be right at the door in no time.... i hate that damn fence in the winter. Not to mention that side walk allways seems to be jacked up some how, ice, hidden cracks that swallow heals, etc..... Ughhh i hate the fence, i know it has a good reason but it does not mean i hate it any less.

As an Autobot, I have to make a note of where I transform and relax for the night. Don't park in the Lab's parking lot because there was a lot of cars towed in the last month there. That'll also include on the street by that lot. that is why the notes are on the door when you enter CC now. As for those spots with the signs, just leave the club before 3 and you'll be fine. Not everyone stays past 3 a.m.. The only other option that is safe for the car, but requires a little walk would be at the MGM Casino. Your car would be safe, but not only do you have to walk a few blocks to the club, but you have to spend a few mins in the casnio afterward to get a free parking pass.

    • Well, things definitely got scary there for a bit.  I accessed my removable drive on a device that had a forced upgrade to Windows 11.  The drive was stated as having a corrupted recycle bin then began to systematically remove files from specific folders.  I'm not certain how many folders were affected, but one folder for the entire statistical data collection for 2024 showed as empty and another accessed folder had files deleted for all of September and most of August before I disconnected it.  It appeared as if the drive was being reformatted, but wasn't trying to save or backup any of the data on it.   So now it's time to rebuild my desktop to preserve the data that remains.   Since this was a rebuild from the massive decade worth of data loss prior to August 8, 2018, I'm not feeling as devastated as I did back then.  Sadly, it's beginning to feel like business as usual.  The good news is that with my last Micro Center run, I purchased multiple drives for specific purposes, one of which is strictly for backup data.  I just wasn't quite sure what direction I wanted to go in regarding the new hardware installation, but this incident has definitely steered me into a specific heading.
