Interracial Relationships..

Recommended Posts

OK, maybe I live in my own little world, but I've only ever HAD interracial relationships. I'm really not that attracted to men of Asian decent (I'm not saying NO Asian man, but it's more rare).

When I have dated, it's been white males.. I never saw or felt odd about it except once, when I was in Chicago and some old Italian lady started yelling at us (me and my current at the time), and with the little bit of Italian I could muster (I was better at it then than I am now), it was something to do with mucking up the blood (my own words)

So, umm..what do you guys think about interracial relations/dating/families.

What are your views on this.. I'm not saying your own personal views, but you can share those if you'd like. I'm more interested in what you think how the rest of the world views interracial relationships. I only ask because I was on msn.com and they have a whole section on it, "share your stories/struggles/triumphs". I didn't know there was something to triumph over when it came to interracial relationships. Am I naive in this assumption?

Also, have you ever had an interracial relationship? Did you get shunned or looked down upon because of it?

I personally have no problem with it.....

Things can get weird in the gene pool when mixing races, certain disorders that are exclusive to a race of people get mixed in to others.....That is part of evolution in my eyes.....

I think the African/Asian mix makes pretty babies.

Interracial dating has never been a problem for me--I think it's happened, at most, twice in my life... although

my grandmother would suggest that given the endogenous structure of Judaism, being brought up Jewish means

that racially, I'd be considered "different" from other "whites," so that would be 90% of my dating.

As a concept, I think that interracial dating and marriage should be rewarded for the following reasons:

a) it results in opportunity for sharing background cultures

b) it would result in increased racial tolerance

c) genetic progeny should have "hybrid vigor".

However, all social philosophy aside, I happen to think Asian features are hot.

I wholeheartedly believe in One Race...The divide that exists is perpetuated by the soicially accepted idea that there is in fact more than one race on this planet.

That we come from one Blood.

That we SHOULD "muck-up" the bloodlines...Scientists will concur.

Case point: Tiger Woods...he has a collection of genes from AROUND the world.

When the human race has mixed to a homogeneous majority...when so many Nationalities are mixed together and the gene pools turn into a veritable ocean...we can all step forward as One Nation.

*looks over shoulder at post*

oops...I've gotten a bit verbose...

just tell me if I made any sense...K?..

Personally don't have a problem with it. I have dated many races...I don't really like the attitudes of most arabic men...

Or the fact they usually have small penis' on top of that.

I am not physically attracted to Asian men...

I prefer Mexicans...toasted just right....or Italians.

But have to be with a white guy if I am not to give my parents a heart attack. Or get disowned. Or written out of the will.

I don't think "white" is the word your looking for if your Jewish. Arabic would be closer to the mark.. the Jews were a tribe of Arabs after all.

I have been in several interracial relationships. It was never an issue when I lived in Los Angeles. Since I moved here, I have definitely noticed more racism, especially in the small town that I am in. I started thinking how people would treat a suitor that was not Caucasian. Even my own family, being that they are from a small rural town, I worried that they would be uncomfortable ,and then, make him uncomfortable. I worried he would get harassed by ignorant douche bags if he visited any businesses or walked down the street in my little town. I wouldn't let any of that get in the way, but, it is an extra hurdle in the road to happiness with another. A similar situation my friend goes through with his boyfriend, and the in-laws that don't want to acknowledge the relationship. Emotionally for him it was difficult for several years. Now that he understands that it's not him, personally, it's a little easier, but still, an extra strain.

The world is so complex, and relationships so difficult as it is, it's a shame that others' ignorance can make it even more so. As far as we have supposedly come, it is not far enough. Interracial couples will undoubtedly come across ,at the least, some fool that will make a disparaging remark or give a dirty look, and possibly even a monster that would target them as a victim of violence, vandalism, or harassment. What a shame.

Of the larger, more metropolitan cities that I've visited or stayed in, Detroit certainly seems to me to be the most segregated both geographically and in viewpoints. Growing up around Lansing/East Lansing, which, aside from being a college town, has much less diversity than this area, interracial couples were no big deal. You saw them out and about much more often and no one really gave it a second glance. I was a little shocked by it when I moved here, I had expected things to be more progressive.

I have absolutely no problem with interracial relationships. Whatever makes you happy. I think cultural difference can be an obstacle (ie-if someone was raised in another country, or part of the country, and has completely different views than you) but if skin color is your only difference it shouldn't cause problems for you or anyone else. I'm not saying that I have a problem people of different cultures dating either, I don't; it's just that I tried it once and wouldn't do it again. I need the person I'm with to understand where I'm coming from, regardless of skin color.

Detroit riots of 1967 went ahead and fucked up everything basically. I can't really see anything ever really being the same again...well I suppose eventually, but that sort of thing takes a long time to work out of a demographic area.

What's really ironic is that the '67 riot wasn't even a race riot, it was a class riot. But in those times the people that stayed behind in Detroit and didn't flee for the border were the poor...so obviously most of the poor people in the city of that time were coincidentally black.

The white poor people then kinda made their way over to Delray (South West Detroit) to chill with the latinos . Or they settled in the southside of Warren/Hazel Park.

Totally for them. Two people in love are two people in love and people who think it shouldn't happen suck.

One thing to remember about Detroit is that there was a large immigration of workers from the south post WW2. Doesn't take a genius to figure out they brought their attitudes about race with them and that those attitudes are still somewhat pervasive today.

I am attracted to men of all races a hottie is a hottie. But seriously i think if i were to have children and want to raise them with jewish i can't aee marrying a non jewish man. The way it works is if the woman is jewish the children are jewish. If the man is a Jew but the womman is not their kids are not jewish. So no matter what my kids will be jews. But i feel like if i married a man with no beliefs or oppsite beleifs it would cause confusion in my child's mind. Should they go to shul (synogauge) or to church? Jesus or no Jesus? I dont want to be saying one thing and my husband saying another. A lot of people disagree with me and i feel that this is the person that i want to share my body, my mind, my heart, my soul, and my life with. Why can't i be picky? It doesn't make a person a racist because they know what they want. i kind of want a man that can sing sabbath songs and bless the wine on the sabbath.

Further more you can't control your heart and you love who you love. Sometimes we cant choose. I have gone for the oppsite.
