Actually, most middle eastern oil goes to Europe and Asia. What we collectively bargain as one fungible product, "oil", is in fact an amalgamation of many many different forms of petroleum from many many different parts of the world.

Indeed, if there WAS a significant disruption in supply in the middle east, but North and South American fields, as well as Russian fields were left intact, the developing economies in Asia would most likely get the short end of the stick, while the richer nations of Europe and North America divvied up the remainder.

I would not be surprised if oil doubled in price in the first weeks after such an attack, that is to be sure. However, at 130 dollars or so, oil fields in Texas that were unprofitable a decade or so ago are now coming online. At THREE hundred dollars a barrel, even for less than a month while the pipelines are being repaired...

Wild Catters would be digging to the very center of the earth.

i thought the caspian pipeline that goes through jordan, goegia and what not was built for europe and the us. either way oil is so fragile that loosing lets say 2 million barrels of oil a day in the world supply whould fuck things up for a while. either way oil has become such a thing to base war on that anybody who wants to make a message could do it bye sabatoge
