GothicRavenGoddess (3)
This is just a few of the animals that they have rescued: This is what they NOW have to work with: This is who they lost: The sad thing is, no one cares about pigs. They just think that you can just give them to farms that will eat them... Potbellied pigs are not farm pigs. They are PET PIGS. Trainable. Some are therapy animals. Some aid the blind. Most are abandoned because they don't realize what they are getting into. These animals have the IQ of a 3 year old HUMAN CHILD. you say that's not much, well, that's because humans IQ's develop and grow (least in theory, anyways *rolls eyes*) An ANIMAL having the IQ of a 3 year human child is really smart, for an animal... not counting dolphins, and any monkey/ape species.... BUT, that's like raising a 3 year old, for 20 years! Breeder lie and say they will stay small... they don't. Breeders lie and say they can eat what they want, they are suppose to be fat, they are pigs, after all. Also untrue. Pigs organs are A LOT like human organs. If a pig gets too fat (yes, there is such a thing) its puts strain on the animal. They can have heart attacks just like us. And kidney failure, and liver shut down. Keep in mind, pigs are also more often abandoned. Meaning that one pig, statistically, will be abandoned up to 3+ times, in its life. I'm not saying to love pigs, or stop eating bacon, or whatever. I'm saying to keep in mind that an animal in need.. is just that, an animal in need. No matter what the species is. Pigs, can't fend for themselves, just like dogs, and cats, and anything else that's left on the street, because some irresponsible person doesn't do their research, and can't take care of an animal. The fund raising is going slow as hell. We still need LOTS of volunteers to scour the thrift stores and things like that, for pig items. Doesn't matter if its pink pigs, are spotted, or whatever color! We just need lots to sell. no one is willing to do this, because they are pigs.... Think of it this way.... you are also helping a woman and her husband to re-build their life. They have no home, now. The two of them are the only one's who care for all these animals, on a regular basis. 6 hours a day (3 in the morning, 3 at night) just to make sure they are all fed. Not only did they lose a home, but they lost 3 of the pigs they were caring for. Special needs patients. All three were blind. She also lost a bird, and two cats. :( Several of the other animals still desperately need medical treatment. I wanted to make a fresh post. I don't know.. I feel overwhelmed. Steph's parent's won't help, cuz they don't think she can pull it off. We don't have that many volunteers that aren't directly connected to the music aspect of this benefit. (And for those that are helping us: THANK-YOU SO MUCH! ) Anyways. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On a lighter note. Our personal rescues, the three kitties... They are doing very well. All are very run-about. Kinda annoying... Shin (little white one) LOVES to give running head-butts.. lmao... And Ryuu (my black one) is constantly knocking stuff down. Him and Vinnie (the little pig) have bonded. And Seva. she's very bold. Wants to be friends w/ all the pigs. But espicially Pickle (who is a pig rescue, btw). I'm gonna let Steph tell you that story, since he's her pig, and knows more about him, than I do. I am happy in my house full of rescues. I couldn't be happier (cept, of course, till i see Jason, again-i miss him). Pigs are house-trainable (they even have litter-boxes they "go" in. but its lined w/ news paper, not kitty litter), they come when called, they know their names, they can easily learn several commands. They are also cleaner and smarter than dogs. They make GREAT companions. I'm not just saying this, because of my room mate (no, she hasn't brainwashed me... yet o,O ) I am saying all this, because I have lived her for several months, with them. I have gotten a feel of their dispositions, and their personalities. I personally wouldn't own one, when i get out on my own, but helping to take care fo them has opened my eyes to a lot of things. Anyways.. enough of my carrying-ons.. lol
