Dating in the 2000s

Recommended Posts

People in the cyberage don't seem to date.  A surprising amount of people I know my age don't actually date, they just seem to talk to someone and bang.. they're in a relationship.

Whatever happened to actually taking people out for awhile before deciding that they are in fact in a relationship.

Dotto.. It's hard to hear "I don't see a long term relationship... blah blah... " When you aren't even sure if you're "dating" the person yet. It's all very annoying.

No offense, but I'm glad I don't have to date anymore. No more sucking in my stomach so people don't see how bloated I am. No more fear of removing my Miracle Bra, only to se how truly "miraculous" it really is. What a relief not to have to be witty to be impressive and possibly more "doable". I can't handle that kind of pressure.

I just hope nothing happens to Wayne or I'm screwed.

Here's mine:

It sucks dirty monkey taint.  In the jungle.  When it's really, really hot.  And the Monkey's been eating really, really bad Mexican food.  And drinking tequilla & beer.

That about sums it up.  :erm

Summary:Exhausting , and exasperating.

Be nice if you could skip that whole "dating" part and just get matched up with somone your compatable with and fall instantly in love, forever. That'd work great. I should sign up for that.

The term "dating" is a bit inaccurate in my situation (and always has been) i rarely go on what i'd consider actual "dates" most every girl I've 'gone out with' was a fairly good friend first. Im big on this idea : "Would i be out with this person right now if she wasnt female?" if the answer isnt a resounding "YES!" then its not going to work. I want a friend, not just a "lover". Its fairly rare when I've been on the traditional sort of date were you don't know the person very much and you just ask them out of the blue to go out.

I'd give it up if it wasn't for the fact that im genetically disposed to wanting love / companionship. Or maybe i just watch way to many romantic movies?

Unfortunately that whole wacky "love" thing in like the sometimes quoted line:

"'Doc, uh, my brother's crazy, he thinks he's a chicken,' and uh, the doctor says, 'well why don't you turn him in?' And the guy says, 'I would, but I need the eggs.' Well, I guess that's pretty much now how I feel about relationships. You know, they're totally irrational and crazy and absurd and, but uh, I guess we keep going through it...because...most of us need the eggs."

I might stay away from it at times due to a misguided sense of self preservation, but , i need the eggs!

Single people complain about being single. Then once they actually find someone, they complain about their SO. MAKE UP YOUR DAMN MINDS!! :woot:

I went through that whole I don't like being single. But then I watched my friends go through their problems and decided I would just sit back and wait. It worked.

aaannngggsssttt!!! OH, the pain!!!

Were all doomed from the moment of birth, cursed by our mortality

humanity is a blight on the landscape, forced to scramble around to suck up as much resources as possible before we are long forgotten. Eventually all this crap that we hold so dear won't count for anything, enjoy it while you have it.

Is that depressing enough for you?

yeah. Being in a hurry can really backfire. Makes for relationships between people who likely aren't right for each other.

There really are things to enjoy about being single, and things to enjoy in being part of a couple. Makes me ill sometimes when some of my married acquaintances tell me how lucky I am to be single and say stuff like "never get married" and then in the next breath they are trying to fix me up with someone I'm not in the least interested in. Being single seems to look to them like an invitation to meddle in my life.

Date? Is swinging considered dating? My man and I are fed up. They let you fuck their wives but if they find out your pagan it's over before it began. The last couple we went out with lied, used old pics...and did the usual of the girls get together first (which I am sick of, thinking about being totally hetero for awhile) and then we switch. The other man from said couple only lasted 2 minutes. If and when we fool around without each other it is usually a let down there too. We have been looking for a girl for our 3 way for a couple years now thinking about just paying for it to be honest but I am scared of diseases they say condoms arn't fool proof...even if they don't tear....

At least it sounds like you have a commited partner though... Many of us do not have that.
