I am a member of a yahoo group that helps people get together for rides to City Club. No one ever uses it!

If your in Macomb Co. I can give you a ride when I am going. But I can't go for a couple weeks as I have phnemonia again. Let me know if ya want a ride sometime if your not to far from me. I will drive as far to Oakland Co as Royal oak or Southfield area also.

Posting in this forum is usually a good way to get a ride , but even that requires that you come off as being nice and such. Email groups usually suffer from the same problem as most email, that is, it gets lumped in the mindspace of many people as "spam" and people dont read the digests/mails, and even if they are willing to read them , they often they get filtered out by peoples ISPs spam filters.

There are some good and active email lists but the fact that the care and feeding of an online community is a lot more work than many people realize at the outset makes for a lot of "dead" online comminities. Easy to start, hard to maintain as "active communities" without a lot of dedication.

Then theres just the sheer fact that some people just dont come off as being "trustworthy" for whatever reason and sometimes would have trouble getting a ride no matter were they ask.
