I work with a couple of Vegans and one is kind of a PETA freak.....

I just saw this sticker on her book that said "Cut Class, Not Frogs".....

!!!!!WTF!!!!!

?????Why in Bob's name would anyone promote cutting class?????

An organization w/ that much influence should be ashamed of themselves for encouraging kids to skip school.....

Any one else think this is screwed up?????

PETA has always been a little off kilter... but I find most their quirks amusing and laughable..

I know in my high school, when it came to disecting frogs.. they were already dead and came in bags of preservatives..

so since they're already dead and been marinating in unedible fluid.. wtf does PETA want to do with them instead? Have a dead frog war?

That actually sounds just like disecting frogs.. wich it eventually degraded into the classmates and I throwing frog organs at each other...

i don't think it means "cut class" in general. i think it means instead of "cutting the frog" on that day "cut class" instead.

I gathered that, but that to Me is not a message I would want children to think is OK.....

I understand some people have certain beliefs about animal 'usage' and may want to opt out of dissection, which in most schools is an option.....But straight up telling kids to cut class is too much.....

i agree.

but i think to shorten the message to fit on a sticker they'd have to say "cut class" instead of "don't cut that frog, walk away and if your teacher won't let you walk away, walk out of class instead."

i would never encourage my kids to cut class however when the time comes for them to "cut the frog" and they don't want to, i will be ok if they walk out of the class if need be. i don't want my kids to do anything they don't believe in.

i guess over all they could come up with a better slogan that doesn't give off a seemingly bad message.

as a science teacher who has seen this sticker in class...

THANK YOU!!!

it does really irritate me. thanks, PETA, for promoting the education of today's youth.

FYI, a lot of science classes are now turning to interactive software to help students learn about anatomy. it's not the same as having the hands-on dissection experience, but 90% of students don't need or value that so it's okay. I think it's important to include dissection in the curriculum for med students, but your average jo doesn't need to know what a critter looks like on the inside.

the anatomy classes at my school use the ADAM human anatomy software. This allows students to look at any biological system, see how the systems interact, learn the names of different parts - and for those difficult anatomy terms, you can even click on a body part to hear the name pronounced. since this is a high school, that means that we the faculty get to hear:

"nipple. nipple. clitoris. penis. penis. vagina. penis. penis. penis. penis. penis..."

Thank You.....

That's exactly what I am saying.....

Not many thingz piss Me off, but when big influential entities, like PETA, start trying to make kids little minions of theirs I tend to get a little perturbed over it.....

PETA can be very radical.....Coming up with cute slogans to encourage children to ditch class, is over my line.....

Don't get Me wrong, I am all about kids standing up for their beliefs, but that should be up to the parents to teach their kids the proper way to go about this.....

Sorry everyone, it is the little things that get to Me sometimes.....

First off...these girls aren't high school...

I immediately saw a vision of COLLEGE kids skipping anatomy class...How smart would that be!?!??

{You all KNOW they did not let Rev cut stuff up}

They are BARLEY vegan...

(Honey & semen count!)

PETA are idiots...

(Total conjecture/opinion)

If a child has got a huge dilemma with cutting up frogs...like JaneDead said...that's up to & between her & her child...

If it is a College student.......HAHAHAHAHA

I used to disect fish and other various already dead animals I found as a kid.....

and loved science class when it came to disecting: frogs, pig fetus's, cow eyeballs, worms.....

it's interesting, and educational.

No... I am not a serial killer.

Sure..... I said the same thing now Im doing 20 to life because I disceted an already dead guy I found at the park.

But Yeah I loved my biology class. My teacher would bring in deer entrails, hearts, lungs and the stomach and we would draw it, describe it, touch it and some kids vomited because he cut the deer up that morning in front of his AP Science Class. But Yeah The whole sticker thing with PETA, not a big deal depending on what crowd takes the bait. I can see high school students missing the class but middle schools kids would probably misunderstand. It all depends on who reads what now-a-days

I like that PETA is trying to make people aware that animals are being misstreated...BUT...I do not like how ANY organization tries to use children to push their ideals epsically when they are pushing something that is not necissarily a good ideal for the audiance they are trying to influence.

Didn't PETA a few years ago hand out a very graphic comic book to elementary kids saying something like your mommy kills animals and it showed a "mom" slaughtering a rabbit with a butcher knife?

All i do know is I don't like PETA because they are crazy...and not in the good way...:p lol

One of my favorite bumper stickers I ever sported on my car said,

"If the Great Spirit didn't want us to eat animals, then WHY are they made out of MEAT?"

:p

I wonder about people who don't eat meat.. 'Tis not normal. It's just not natural to deprive ones body of one of the four basic food groups.

Then you have the people who think hunting is brutal. They would rather eat some mystery meat out of a shiny package from the butcher shoppe. Who KNOWS where that meat has been??

I know where mine comes from, and how cleanly it was processed. I also know it was harvested with respect for the animal, and killed quickly and humanely. I also know that every useful part was used and appreciated.

oh i feel you... I hate how one of these bleeding heart faggots tries to protest deer hunting in michigan...

the hunter is a michigan deer's only NATURAL (yes i said natural) predator to keep the population in check

and when i say natural.. i mean that they are naturally being hunted for food. humans, as much as we'd like to belive we're so different, we're not, we're still part of the food chain after all... and ocasionally we're not so top of the food chain with some animals hehe.

Actually, Puma have been spotted in southern Michigan.

AND, I have seen a coyote pack take down a yearling buck before.

But yes, the deer population is outrageous here, and needs to be culled to keep disease down, and to keep the deer from starving themselves out during our difficult winters.

I will say that I did skip a day of my college Biology 2 class because they had us dissect rats. Since I'm a rat owner I just...I dunno it perturbed me, especially since it was after one of my rats JUST died. Really...dissection can be important but it's not ALWAYS necessary. I've been able to learn from fake models that are in class, it looks just like the real thing.

If you went to Peta.org...you would find out exactly where that meat comes from, what is done to it (brutal and needless torture for the fun of it), and WHAT they put in it (i.e. antibiotics, hormones, and poisonous chemicals). It would make you sick. Hunting is much more honorable...it's a man/woman taking down their dinner the natural way, nothing wrong with that. Especially bow hunting, what can be more nature than that? And yes...to me it's almost nature to hunt with a bow because mankind's niche is that we can make tools, all animals have a niche and that's ours. We use our brains to get dinner. But feedlot meat is DISGUSTING...the brutal and disturbing shit they do to those animals first...the unnecessary pain and torture...it's so wrong.
