Anti-Depressant Withdrawal Syndromes

I am SO PISSED.

I have been having weird break outs of hives, mostly centered around when I have been taking my Elavil. I've been on this drug for several months. I've recently come off it.

I'm glad.

I told the doc in the beginning I had this weird reaction. I had also dyed my hair with a new dye at the time. He said the drug couldnt do that, and it had to be the dye.

What did i find today?

A warning that advises that indeed, people can be allergic to Elavil, and if you get hives or a rash, you should *stop taking it immediately*. I've been taking this drug for MONTHS.

WTF?

ANd it said let your dr know before taking it, if you have had drugs like Celexa within the LAST 5 WEEKS. Celexa was the drug they tried to put me on, but i had to go back to elavil, because i reacted VERY badly. I am absolutely LIVID.

If your physician prescribes you an antidepressant for anything other than depression, get a second opinion. I have had SO much trouble because of it, and mine was prescribed for a condition they *think* i have. They simply couldnt find anything glaring wherever they were looking.

I think we're almost in the same boat here. I took celexa years and years ago as a mood stablizer. Well due to events of the past few months doc put me on it again. I am now covered in bruises that I did nothing to get so I went and saw a doctor about it to get my iron checked. I'm perfectly healthy so they are chalking it up to a side effect from the celexa...abnormal bleeding. So thanks to a bad reaction after so many years on other drugs, I now look like I got the shit kick out of me.

When I was on it (and they put me on it for possible IBS, not even for my mood) i was *extremely* manic, tapping my foot all the time, shaking, cold sweat, grinding my teeth (i was shaking so bad), practically jumping out of my skin. I also couldnt sleep. At all. That was for two days only, and when i quit taking it, i felt like i had the flu from hell. i dont even want to know what more than two days would have done.
