Bedtime Rituals

Recommended Posts

I apologize if it is a repeat thread but I did a few searches and came up with nothing. What do you do before you go to bed every night, no matter what? Something you never deviate from.

I have to have my fan on.

I need fresh sheets and change them at least 3 times a week. There's nothing like that crisp feeling of going to bed in a fresh set up.

I take a cold bottle of water to bed with me for my night table in case I get thirsty.

I usually have a book or magazine in bed as well.

I have to have a DVD on, something usually of a lighter fare. When I do horror, I end up in the movie as I dream, though that can be fun. Usually only happens to me when I watch "The Shining". Though I must say, I do often get thrown onto the lanai of the Golden Girls quite often.

I have to have my fan on in the summer if it's hot ... my house was redone in 2002, and they made the vent in my room wayyyy too small so the air conditioning (and in the winter, the heat) doesn't work right but only in that room.

I can not sleep in hot and sticky ... I just can't do it. I was spoiled with central air as a child, so the few times our power has been out -- I don't sleep.

I also have to have a water bottle and inhaler next to my bed. I have Asthma and frequently wake up coughing or wheezing. I need both sometimes.

If I can't sleep, I pick up my iPhone or my PSP.

EDIT:

I forgot ... I have to have my purse hanging on the doorknob of my room and I have to make sure my car keys are in it -- in case we are forced to leave the house in a hurry. It's just an anxiety I have about having to get out of the house and not having my car keys. It comes in handy when you have to leave at 1 am because there's live wires in your yard (I've done that as long as I can remember -- I've had that phobia well before that happened).

Ok..

First of all, I get the inclination to go to bed in the first place--imagine that?!?

I go into the master bath, and I wash off my hoochie drag. Then I brush my fangs. After that, I brush my long hair, and roll it up into some sort of twist or bun. Then I carry each of my boy kittehs to bed, one by one. I turn on some Yanni or Enya, and turn in for the night.
