WARHAMMER40,000

Recommended Posts

I SAW THE WORDS "Rougue Trader" & had to start a thread...

I played that long ago as well...& WH40K is my game of choice for an afternoon/2days of gaming...

I've got an Inquisitorial force (small, it's Toqramada Coteaz & 1725ps Space Marines)

A big pile of Khorne Berzerkers...

& I started another Chaos Marines army last year...

Though I never finished the bases on any of them...

I should really get cracking on that.

In case no one has any clue what Warhammer 40k is (as if you didn't already pass the gamer-geek test required to post on DGN) have a look here:

THANX TROY!

I did not think that far...

I figured that the WH40K peoples would know what I was talking about...

I am totally lookin' for a fight...

I drifted away from tabletop soon after Warhammer showed up (ok maybe not soon after). So I always was more of a sideline Warhammer gamer (I have played once or twice). So I never immersed myself in the rules or painted up an army or any such thing. But I have always kept some level of interest in it. So if there is any increase in Warhammer interest I may wander into it. And if my painting skills regenerate (long time dormant) I may even consider painting up an army or two (maybe even for others as well). So keep me posted as to what is going on.

I was a hardcore 40k guy for a solid decade but drifted away somewhere after 3rd edition toward D&D (and for awhile Robotech/Rifts/Shadowrun/Toon/Paraniona/Car Wars) and MTG. I still toy with getting back into it but there is only so much time/energy, i still have plenty of figs and could probably put together an army and brush up on the newest rules fairly quickly. I talk to "40k guys" at least once or twice a week still, every week and am pretty familiar with it and still follow it from a few steps removed.

The local store over here has a huge 40k following. (Pandemonium - Garden City) They play so much 40k (and to a lesser extent fantasy) that they don't even need to put it on the calendar. Probably 5-6 days a week there are 40k guys just standing around waiting for someone to play on specific nights (not totally sure which ones) the place is packed with tabletop players, especially 40k. Probably half the store's floorspace (they have a huge gaming area) is40k. Maybe even half the store.

I would appear to be a far larger dork than the rest of you, but I'm actually sort of just lucky. I don't really play too much, but painting the models is somewhat of a stress release for me, and I've recieved a ridiculous amount of models for free. So far I have painted

3000 pts Black Templars

6000 pts. combined Fantasy Chaos

3500 pts Empire (1/2 of which were free)

3500 pts. Bretonninans (1/2 of which were free)

2500 pts Orc (1/2 free again)

3000 pts Lizardmen (entire army given to me)

2500 pts Dwarfs (entire army given to me)

2500 pts wood elves

1000 pts Vampire counts (Free)

2000 Pts High Elves I haven't even opened (1/2 off the army box deal)

A few months ago Disenchanted called me and said he knew a guy getting rid of some stuff, so he just gave it to me.

So now I also have...

5000 pts Dark Angels

3000 pts Tyranids unpainted

3000 pts Eldar unpainted

1500 pts Chaos Space Marines unpainted

a shmegload of Space Marines that aren't even opened.

and 40 Dark Eldar warriors

the end

Got into it big and bad when I was in college. In the end my marine army consists of:

2 devastator squads

3-4 marine heavy weapons bikes

2 marine bikes

1 squad of grey knight terminators

8 (i think) tactical squadrons

1 land raider deployable, 1 that i would have to bit together

1 landspeeder

6 chaplains (all from the compendium)

1 assault squad

3 techmarines

6 squads of terminators (1 with lightning claws, 1 with thunder hammer/storm shields)

6 marine jet bikes. 1 with a techmarine, one with a medic, and the rest with chaplains

2 medics

4 dreadnaughts

I could theoretically (and I have for one scenario,) field an entire codex company with terminator and vehicle support.

Talk about ubergeekdom...:)

That is and always was my goal...1 company worth & about 20 Terminators...NO SCOUTS..

..To be fielded as a 'Remnant' force...ie. the markings will cover the Full Chapter but number less than 150 men

(servitors and 'attendants not counted)
