Have ever been through a messy divorce? Know anyone that has?

Perhaps you noticed the stress and heart ache of a messy divorce makes people do things they would not otherwise do. Like shoot an 11 year old with a taser. Or get drunk while at work.

All those things you have said...he was cleared of...almost any job in law enforcement will file reprimands and suspensions during the time of an investigation.

Despite the disciplanary actions, almost everything against him, besides the moose shooting, has been overturned or dismissed.

Why doesn't he get your "innocent till proven guilty" blanket??

and no...she isn't being investigated for his dismissal...but she IS being investigated for the dismissal of Walter Monegan BECAUSE she, her family, and her staff put extensive pressure on him to fire the said trooper. The case was closed, there was nothing he could do, but they still made an excessive number of phone calls, including calls from Todd Palin, Sarah Palin's chief of staff, and Talis Colberg. Colberg said he called after Todd Palin asked him about "the process" for handling death threats made by state troopers against the first family; Colberg was told that the matter had been handled, and Colberg reported back to Todd Palin that nothing more could be done.

Also, just for fact's sake, Chuck Kopp received a $10,000 severance package for withdrawing from his position as his replacement....he served 2 weeks as Public Safety Commisioner. Monegan served almost two years....and got NOTHING.

and, as governor, it is her right to hire/ fire any state employee without need of reason.....then why are they bothering to investigate it??....there is an interesting point, don't you think?

It is the right of her office to fire any state employee...and yet a bi-partisan council voted 12-0 to have her investigated.

As of Labor Day...she has hired a lawyer from an independant firm to PROTECT her during the investigation....if she is so open to the investigation, why the sudden need for a lawyer?? Why not hire the lawyer before agreeing to co-operate??

"Perhaps you noticed the stress and heart ache of a messy divorce makes people do things they would not otherwise do. Like shoot an 11 year old with a taser. Or get drunk while at work."

or make a number of false allegations against your spouse.....or get your sister to use her political influence to try and cost him his job, so he will be unable to pay child support, and therefore spend time in jail.

The facts of the case make Palin look guilty.....her family's ACCUSATIONS that were found to be untrue and overturned, make Wooten look guilty.

wonder which one a court will be inclined to follow...the facts from several seperate investigations....or overturned accusations from a bitter ex-wife and her family.

"While Palin has conceded she was aware of the past complaint against Kopp, she claims that she thought the complaint had been unsubstantiated and was unaware of the letter of reprimand."

so she KNEW of the sexual harassment compliant....but didn't bother to check for the letter of reprimand, or to see if the compliant has reasonable merit.

sounds like Palin, in the very least, jumped the gun in her descision. Just what we need in a possible future leader: the ability to not check all the facts...or care too.

Could you show me anything that says charges against him were over turned? Anything? Ihave read more than 100 artcles on this subject.. and not one has said charges against him were over turned.

Troopers eventually investigated 13 issues and found four in which Wooten violated policy or broke the law or both:

• Wooten used a Taser on his stepson.

• He illegally shot a moose.

• He drank beer in his patrol car on one occasion.

• He told others his father-in-law would “eat a f’ing lead bullet” if he helped his daughter get an attorney for the divorce.

Beyond the investigation sparked by the family, trooper commanders saw cause to discipline or give written instructions to correct Wooten seven times since he joined the force, according to Grimes’ letter to Wooten.

Those incidents included: a reprimand in January 2004 for negligent damage to a state vehicle; a January 2005 instruction after being accused of speeding, unsafe lane changes, following too closely and not using turn signals in his state vehicle; a June 2005 instruction regarding personal cell phone calls; an October 2005 suspension from work after getting a speeding ticket; and a November 2005 memo “to clarify duty hours, tardiness and personal business during duty time.”

This does not seem to back your story.

Reprimands - no

Suspension of duty pending investigation - yes

Also...I did some digging. While I couldn't find Alaska's Law Enforcement Employee Bill of Rights...the paper that tells all about your rights during investigation, etc....I have noticed that several other states happen to have different policies when it comes to issuing a reprimand.....including one state noting that an "official" reprimand be given BEFORE the start of an investigation.

I can't say what exactly is IN Alaska's bill, but there may be something there none of us are aware of, concerning reprimands and discipline.

We cant end dependence on Fossil Fuels until we beat dependence on Foreign Fossil Fuels.

We need to first cut our dependance on foreign fuels by developing our own domestic fuels and keeping them off the international market. Also to this end, we need to build Refinarys that can not only process Fossil Fuels but Bio feuls down the road.

While doing that, we need to take a large portion of the money saved and direct it into Research and Development of alternative fuels and Fuel Delivery systems.

Bio-Fuels, Wind Power, Geothermal, Solar and Hydrogen.

None of them alone will meet our energy needs. None are ready to meet even a signigficant portion of our needs. Hydrogen, though most likely the best canidate to replace Fossil Fuels is the farthest away. Until we can Produce Hydrogen fuel with a net positive energy level... it's just not going to work. (Currently it costs about 1.5 units of energy from fossil fuels to create 1 unit of energy from Hydrogen fuel)

Drilling our known domestic fossil fuels is only a band aid... but we need something to stop the bleeding until we can actually fix the problem.

pretty much sums it up. now the timetable is there, just not accurate... lets hope its still 10 years down the road that that middle-eastern oil will go in decline, or EVERYONE is going to go after russia and canadian oil. and the international price for oil will skyrocket anyways. i wonder how long we can seperate ourselfs with our domestic oil if a big shock happens.

For those that have PDF

The following are official documents regarding Sarah Palin and "Troopergate".

Sarah Palin incedent Transcription

IN the transcription, you can read that part of the event Sarah never even witnessed, as she was told so over the phone with her sister...and the other part, she was trusting the word of a neighbor....yet Sarah herself is the only witness on record of the event.

This next document is the official Memorandium of the investigation against Officer Wooten. While it does have several substantiated violations, there are many more unsubstantiated reports and also mentions that many of allegations were proved false, and others were relayed someone who admits to the information being second hand to them.

Sarah Palin backtracking on former claims that no pressure to fire Wooten was ever placed on Monegan

ADN article

Sarah Palin asks for Alaskan State Legislature to DROP investigation

Article

I find it odd that Palin was fully open to this investigation, and, in a change of pace, has recently hired a lawyer and changed her official stance as requesting the investigation dropped.

Seems to me that Palin doesn't want something discovered.

I am not sure why this is so important...

because it could very well come about that, in October, the report will come in on rather Palin and her staff abused the power of their office in this matter...and if that happens, McCain might as well tie a bomb to his leg and pull the pin.

I'm not saying that it WILL come out as her being guilty....but it very well could...and Palin's sudden change of gears in regards to the investigation is rather interesting.

Sounds like that would make her more qualified to be a Republican VP if thats true... (lol)

you might want to read up on her "hiring a lawyer". She didn't. Normally the job of defednign the Govenor goes to the Attorney General.. but he is namedas one of the people that was pushing to get the trooper fired. So the STATE hired Palin an attorney. Weeks ago... He only just started filing papers recently.

yes...thank you...all the previous articles I read stated that SHE was the one that hired the attorney, but now more articles are coming out with the fact that the STATE hired the firm for her.

:clap::rofl:

(..but are you REALLY laughing Phee?)

Really though... I think that GFP has a bit of a point... Guilty or not... the mere implication of a wrong doing can oft be detrimental; even to the 'death' of a Candidates career...

Again she is the VICE PRESIDENTIAL canidate so why the fuck does half this shit matter. I swear the christ if she was a man we wouldn't be having this conversation.

I agree. Her being named as McCain's running mate is scaring the hell out of the Libs... they are going nuts trying to find some scandal to sink her.

Agree with the first sentence. Not so much with the second--at least with regard to the Bristol Palin situation. Rest assured if it were Obama's 17-yr-old pregnant daughter, I'm sure the right would slam liberal lack of family values & casual morals as the cause as opposed to just leaving his family alone, as everyone should do with the Palins.

Actually, most Libs I know are still laughing at her selection, & most Repubs I know are still trying to make sense of it.

PS--if anyone is watching the convention, Huckabee just gave a very moving speech about John McCain.....

Did you read that there are still people out there so stupid as to think the youngest child is actually not Palin's but her daughters? They are demanding DNA tests. fucking nut jobs.

Apparently they failed basic math. If the baby is four months old and Bristol is five months preggo...yah you get the picture. I really dislike stupid people.

Oh I doubt doubt that if it was Obama's kid knocked up it would be the same way. But the fact is that he's running for the top spot, where as Sarah Palin isn't. But seriously though, yes Bristol got pregeant out of wedlock at 17, but she and Levi (baby daddy) are getting married. I look at it this way, yes they fucked up, but at least they are taking responsibility for their actions, where as many teen parents in this country don't. So on the parenting aspect of things, the Palin's at the very least raised a semi-responsible daughter. And from what I've heard, that is the only stain on Bristol's reputation...
