McCain picks Alaska gov as running mate.

Recommended Posts

Teenage mom Jamie Lynn Spears has sent a gift to Bristol Palin, the pregnant 17-year-old daughter of John McCain’s vice presidential pick Sarah Palin, a source close to the Beverly Hills baby store Petit Tresor told CelebTV.com.

An insider told the Web site it was actually Lynne Spears, Jamie Lynn’s mother, who called about the gift, and requested the gift come from her daughter.

“It was ordered by phone, and they asked what could be done for under $100. They spent $60 on pink burp cloths,” the source said.

Jamie Lynn Spears, Britney Spears' younger sister and the former star of the TV show "Zoey 101," gave birth to her daughter, Maddie Briann, in June. She's engaged to Casey Aldridge, a pipe-layer from Liberty, Miss., but the couple has been dogged by rumors of his infidelity.

Palin announced on Monday through the McCain campaign that her unmarried daughter is five-months pregnant.

Speaking of teen mothers...I believe the news people are calling this the "Juno Effect". Personally I think Ms. Spears could have shelled out a little more than 60 bucks personally...

Again she is the VICE PRESIDENTIAL canidate so why the fuck does half this shit matter. I swear the christ if she was a man we wouldn't be having this conversation.

*claps for you* excellent...you know NOTHING of politics.

IF the report in october comes in as Palin and her staff being guilty of abuse of office, then it can lead to a trial....she would be under trial BEFORE she would take office...and just because she is the Vice President means that she is worthless...if thats what you think the office is...you need to go back a read any book about how the branches of goverment work.

"the vice president also serves as the President of the Senate, and may break tie votes in that chamber."

"often include drafter and spokesperson for the administration's policy, as an adviser to the president, as Chairman of the Board of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), as a Member of the board of the Smithsonian Institution, and as a symbol of American concern or support."

Also...if McCain DIES in office...or suffers some sort of medical condition...she would be acting president.

So yes....If she were a man...we WOULD be having the same conversation....It's WHAT she has done, and what she MIGHT become....not what gender she is.

You are actually the one that needs to go back to civics class here. If it is found that she did abuse her powers... then the Alaska Congress would have to decide whether it was a strong enough breech of protocol to Impeach her. How long do you think thats going to take? The investigation phase doesnt even end until 4 days before Election day.

So, if she were a man we would be doubting if she fathered her kids? We would be talking about her familys trials?

So, Biden's drunken daughter is fair game? His son's shady business deals? Are those even really his Kids? Maybe those cute little kids that Michelle drags around are rented for photo ops.

I WOULD be talking about those....and a trial in ANY sense...at ANY time would effect her being able to take office, as well as the ability of the American public to trust and respect her.

and actually...I have been wondering why there isn't a thread on Biden....I thought you would have started that a while ago....I'm all game for finding stuff that he has done wrong as well. I told you before Gaf....wheather you believe it or not....I'm bipartisan.

no...I am not discussing all this because she is a WOMAN....I am discussing it because I think she is the WRONG woman to choose....If McCain would have chosen Christina Whitman...who has less scandals, a much better track record, and more expeiriance all around.

I mean... I hate to talk about issues and all...

But isn't that the issue that gets people killed to begin with? God saying "Go kill these people for me?"

sounds to me like maybe Palin needs a mouth full of peanut butter....

Back to Civics class... if McCain wins... as Vice-President, she is immune to prosecution until after her term in office.

your the one that needs to go back

"While there are different legal opinions about the President, there is a general consensus that Vice President and other “civil officers” of the United States can be indicted and prosecuted while they are still in office, prior to any impeachment. There are numerous legal cases that have firmly established this rule. For instance, in 1804, Aaron Burr, while Vice President, was indicted for the killing of Alexander Hamilton both in the state of New York and New Jersey. Burr never claimed any immunity from prosecution in the case, and had to serve out his office with the stigma of indictment."

care to retract your statement?

there isn't a single governmental office that is safe from prosecution in a court of law.

Maybe that's why Hilary was running for Pres. She's under investigation for more things than Palin ever could be and aren't there some trials pending? As Pres, Hilary could just pardon herself. How convenient. lol. And what if Palin was found guilty of abuse of power? Would that be enough to impeach her of governor? And what if she was impeached of governor? Does that mean she's not worthy of VP? I seem to recall former President Bill Clinton was, in fact, impeached while in office as President yet he continued to hold office and finish out his term just fine. And, for those who don't know history, only two Presidents of the 43 we've had so far have ever been impeached: Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton. Plus, abuse of power, was one of the accusations against Clinton though he was acquitted of that. He was successfully impeached for obstruction of justice but that was later acquitted by the senate, but the impeachment for perjury to a grand jury still stands.

She was at a Christian school'ss graduation ceremony... giving a commencement speech... I think mentioning God and her faith is kinda expected.

Mentioning God and her faith...thats fine...more then expected...but "God's will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that,"...comon....God's will is to build a gas line???

not end world hunger....work towards world peace...hell...not even working towards ending domestic violence or sheltering the homeless..

No, ladies and gentlemen...God's name is now Exxon-Mobil...and his will is that we all come together and build a gas line....go forth with wrench in hand, in the name of our lord, Exxon-Mobil....Amen.

First of all you don't know a damn thing about me so don't pretend to. If I really thought anything you had to say had any relevance I would be debating circles around you. I'm a fucking law major (paralegal studies then law school) for christ sakes. The fact of the matter is that the mainstream media is so god damn giddy for Obama that they've made the choice for this country in just how they are covering anything to do with the election. It seems journalisim integrity died when this election process started 19 months ago. Prime example, the media keeps talking about Palin's husbands drunk driving ticket...from 22 years ago. Obama admits in one of his books that 22 years ago he was doing coke, yet we haven't been hearing about that have we.

So yes I get that you're just another one of the people in this country getting off on Obama, but personally I don't give a shit anymore. You're rude, sexist and personally I think you are very closed minded. When someone says something you don't like, you personally attack them. Grow up and get over it please.

You have a lot more reading to do. They can being charges all they want. They can even convict. BUT, they have no power to enforce until after they are out of office. Hence Burr not getting prosicuted until after he left office. The courts have no power to keep the Vice-President from doing thier job. This is a highly complex legal issue that has never realyl been settled, even in the courts.

You are right.. there is no stated immunity from the courts... but there are severe limits on what the courts can do...

so, in all practicality... there is immunity.

and you need to stop making own personal attacks....you've attacked me for stating social views and pointing out that there are quite a few flaws and dents in Palin's "amazing" record. I have stated several times that I think there are BETTER FEMALE choices out there for VP, but I still stand by the fact that this country is not socially ready for a woman to be president. I have also stated that I think that a VP female nominee is a step in the right direction.

You also seem to have no problem with someone running around calling her a "Milf" but the moment someone says that this country isn't socially ready for a female to run it...you jump down my throat. Either be against ALL Sexism against women....or take the piece of white pickett hypocritical fence out of your ass, stick it between your teeth, bite down real hard...and STFU!!!

First off....all your law studies won't give you jack in social psychology and hidden influence....so don't wave your law around like you know why or how something is happening when it comes to media, mass influence, and what this country is socially ready for, based on that.

Secondly...All stuff about the coke, land deals, and such HAVE been brought up....I don't feel that their right in bringing up the Drunk Driving case of Todd Palin's from 22 years....but thats the media's choice..I choose to ignore that for the more SERIOUS stuff....like her possable abuse of power and the fact that she is suddenly retracting statements that she stood so firm on.

Third..I have NEVER said anything about Obama being a clean slate. Infact, I have asked Gaf why there WASN'T a Joe Biden thread on this board. I have never...EVER...stated that Obama was some "great white hope"...but is this country more socially ready to accept a president of a different skin color then a president of a different gender??...ABSOLUTLEY. I NEVER said that it HAD to be Obama....in fact there is several things I don't like about him....but this country IS more socially ready for a President of a different race then we are a woman president....or a homosexual president...or anything else that you want to try and toss around.

so yes....go back to fucking class....bury your nose in a book....and give your piss-poor hatred a rest.....because it is MORE THEN OBVIOUS that you have little to no idea what this country is and is not socially ready for in terms of it's leadership.

may I have the source you are getting this from...I have yet to see anything that states they are immune to the enforcement of prosecution while serving a term.

I don't know about her school's cirriculum, but mine does.. I don't think anyone but us law students (and alumni) realize how much Psychology is actually tied into a law education.

I realize that much psychology goes into a law education...but learning and understanding criminal psychology is much different then learning and understanding social psychology.

Tending to an apple tree is different from tending grape vines...but their both fruit.
