How Are You Feeling?

Thanks, Troy. I am not suffering. I am OK. I know you understand. I myself have this problem and as a result I have to take stimulants to make me functional. As a result my mood swings, my mental health is not what I would like it to be at times, however if I don't take stimulants (adderall) I can barely stay awake. Going on the drug was something I fought for years, until my ex husband and school put my son on it six or seven years ago. I couldn't fight my ex or the school alone about it so myself, said about five years ago that I could not let my little boy be on a pill that I knew nothing about.. So I went on it myself.. This was what ultimately tore my marriage apart, really, I mean there was other things but this... I didn't believe in it for my child but I had to know what it did. It ruined my brain, now I can not focus with or without it. Thankfully he is not medicated anymore and his dad did finally see what I was trying to prove. I hate my mood swings: (

hate feeling crazy

I've been just using way too much caffeine and energy drinks to keep me going, but only when i really "have to" get things done.  Lack of energy ruins a lot of things.  But the "cure" for it (really good solid rest, diet, exersize) is SO damn hard to get done... but the occasional month or three I can manage to do it, I feel 1000% better.

Adderall has good research behind it for both focus and depression, but as with all the damn drugs, they affect different people differently.  Very sorry to hear about the negative impact its had.  :grouphug

Wish we could fast-forward about 30 years once Psych medication can be customized and we will have learned a TON more about the pathology and proper treatment rather than the guessing game that it is now. Especially since we as a society are just now starting to take mental issues as seriously as "medical issues".  Psych science is so far behind "medical science" its not funny.  Most people have long blown off mental issues and that is reflected in the funding for the whole field.

Actually, we are there in a sense. They have developed a DNA style test that gives you a workup of what meds will be bad for your specific chemistry when it comes to mental health. It's very expensive but a coworker of mine did it and she was able to rule out the meds ineffective or that would have negative effects on her specific brain chemistry. She was very satisfied with the results and continues to use the antidepressant that she knew and that was confirmed as best for her chemical makeup. Let me see if I can find the information, we actually had a in service about it this spring at work.

They are getting a DNA testing machine at Hegiera soon.  But the whole field is still in its infancy.  Even so, what CAN be done is a hell of a lot better than it was say even 5 years ago.

I am so excited about this. It is working so well so far. It's like II don't feel that constant fear of impending doom. I didn't realize how much sleep paralysis could be a symptom of PTSD and how all this time it's all been related. My sleep paralysis started at 10. I have probably had PTSD since I was young. I wish I would have been on this for 20 years. I knew about this med due to my job and thought that it sounded logical but when I read about it and how its not a beta blocker, rather an alpha blocker and blocks adrenaline or something like that it makes even more sense. I asked the neurologist, my primary, and the psychiatrist I have been seeing for years about it and they said, oh you don't need that. This new doctor, he is amazing.. I walked in his office, he didn't try throwing all the other shit at me.. All he said was..so you have PTSD? Has anyone ever treated you for it and I mentioned meds I had been given and he goes.. No, no, no, no..that's not how you treat it, pulls out his script pad and starts telling me about it.. Than we started cracking jokes about how it doesn't affect your weight but eating too much food does. lol.

Feeling a bit upset with myself. I have not had time to enter appointments in my calendar and totally missed taking my niece to her doctor's appointment on November 10th. The office didn't even call in a reminder like all the other offices do. It also doesn't help that I was so busy that day I actually had to receive a call from the school to pick my niece up from dance class. At least the school cares about the kids.

Nice the doctor was able to joke around with you. It seems you may have a keeper here.

Feeling very disoriented. I knew I was a bit exhausted from work and errands I've been handling for the past couple of days, but I had no idea I would pass out for 5 hours just trying to feed the pets. That was scary.

I feel angry, upset, disappointed and stepped on by this country, especially by Congress.

Due to the fact that I stepped in and took on guardianship responsibilities of my family members who need it, I am being penalized by the government for having too large of a household for my current income, thus making me ineligible for state approved tax credits from the Health Care Act for being too poverty stricken.

...so I'm too poor to get help...

And yet, the flip side to this is, due to the size of my household, my income puts me over the cutoff limit to receive assistance from the Department of Health and Human Services as I make too much money.

...and I'm too rich to get help...

However, the ironic part to all of this is the fact that I work as a Home Care Provider through AAA insurance and as a Home Help Provider through DHS to provide care and services to the Wards I have guardianship over.

...but I'm just right to get screwed...

So..you can't even qualify for Medicaid?

I got penalized for 2014 for not having health care for part of the year on my daughter and I.

Yea..free health care my ass. Obama did actually say that in a speech, several of them..

Our country is so ass backwards no wonder people just give up, it's not designed for us to be middle class productive citizens anymore. The middle class is like being a middle child, forgotten.
