Of all the stupid things that could happen

Of all the stupid things that could happen. A spring has pop up in our back yard dumping water into our basement. An excavator came to look at it and he said it would cost $1200.00 to fix! Insurance wont help cause they consider it flood damage and you know insurance wont cover flood damage unless you have flood insurance! We live in freaking Michigan and the house is on a hill! It never ever crossed my mind that we would we would need flood insurance in case a stream pops up in our back yard and runs into the basement! A water heated need replaced, the washer or drying going bad, even the house catching on fire, them things I can imagine. But I could not have imagined in my wildest dreams that a freaking stream from out of nowhere would popping up in the back yard dumping water into out basement! This is just freaking stupid!

you could get out there with a shovel and dig a trench...

we have the same problem and are thinkin of doing it ourselves...you dig a trench around your house going higher to lower then out towards the street and make a drainage ditch...but I believe pipe is layed and the trench buried at some point, lots of digging which I usually get stuck with...and I hate it. :grouphug

his quote is actually pretty reasonable
