Here's my outfit...

Recommended Posts

This is strictly a City Club outfit. The pics aren't the best, but I bet I'll have more, soon.

Enjoy. :)

What's under the skirt, is a garter skirt. I cut the straps off, because the clips don't hold. lol but it works. lol

Because of unavoidable circumstances, I had to edit out an image. Hence why some are commenting on my butt and ya can't see it anymore. LOL... all is well... its not a big deal....

You did a really nice job altering the top! It looks like it fits you nicely! :)

thank you, every much! its stretchy, and I added black material to both sides. its the same satin, that the skirt is made of, so that it matches. :)

the skirt, at first had four panels... but I looked like a flower, but not in a good way, so I took two of them off, so that there's just a front and back. they are both the same size, but the one in the back looks smaller, because I have a big ass. and I don't like wearing anything on my waist, because things are uncomfortable, when they cut into my tummy, so the front is also hanging lower than the back peice is. over all, had I worked on it, diligently, it would have taken me one whole day, two at the most...

the first day was just Murphy's law at its best... i only worked for an hour, before my day went south... but I got one side sewn into the shirt, and one tirangle's edges finished, and I was starting on a second. so had it gone smoothly, it would have been a quick project. I enjoyed it. It was a great learning experience. You'll be able to see it better at City Club. I didn't fold over the edges of the shirt, beceause I don't have enough thread to do the stitches nessesary to sew on stretchy material. so I used Fray Check brand liquid glue to keep the satin from unravelling. :)

naw... my gandmother always told me (and I hated it when she did) "beauty knows no pain" as she'd whop me upside the head w/ a brush while putting my hair in pigtails, before preschool everyday, and I'd cry out in pain.... i wanted to take that brush from her and whop her one! lol

but yeah... if i had more thread, I'd have finished the edges, but i don't have enough... idk what the red parts made from... all i know is thatit stretches and the black is satin and doesn't stretch. :)

good luck w/ the skirt. Velvet, stretchy or not, is hard to sew. lol its so damn thick! lol

Apparently your grams and my grams should get together for lunch because that sounds like something mine would do...

BIG HINT..... start with more fabric than you will need... extend the overlaps & hems... ;)

Oh yes that is why I got an extra yard in case of fuck ups lol

Meeting my gma, you'd never think she was like that. lol she's so nice... but she can be a real bitch, but its so subtle, the woman's insulted you and you don't even know it!

Sometimes those reconstruct jobs ARE a headache. You look at it and you're like 'All I need to do is make a little cut here...' and then four days later it's not done, and you have shreds of an outfit.

Oh well.

And that fabric glue - I've used that MANY times, I'm embarrassed to say, but it did the job, so I can't complain :)

  • 1 year later...

I am bumping this thread to show you something else I have made:

Here's the design:

post-2870-125383376936_thumb.png

Here's the actual dress: (sorry about the quality... I will be getting better pics as soon as I can!!)

post-2870-125383371362_thumb.png

in reality, the dress looks almost identical to the design. The purple in the second pic is a long dress I put under the over dress, so it could be seen better....

The over dress is completely see-through, so wearing something under it is a must. :) If I were smaller, I could get away with wearing something like a tube top, and boy shorts LOL But I won't make you suffer at the sight of me in that LOL (though a tank top and boyshorts looks cute on me, i feel good in it, but I know some who'd dissagree in a very rude manner...- er, not on here, that's not what I meant LOL) anyways... so yeah. I'm very happy with the design, and the outcome. I lined all the seams with a very sheer dark blue ribbon, so the corners on the sleeves curled a little, because the fabric stretched. But I don't mind that. it gives it character. :) the front is slit open from under the bust, to the floor. My pattern, believe it or not, was an altered shirt I'd taken apart. I cut out paper pieces to pin to the shirt to make the shirt larger, and used a small ribbon pinned to the fabric, to get the length of the over all dress... It was a pain in the ass, but was well worth it! :)

Edit and Update: Since Msterbeau took a very.. um... lovely picture of me at the wedding, I figure I'd post a sort of better shot of the dress I made lol

Enjoy.

If "those people" comment, that's when you turn around, lift the skirt, and shake your big luscious derriere in their face.

Sheer fabric over little bits is a good look for us extra curvy grrls... visually smooths the edges, so to speak.
