gothicmom
Daniel went there to pick up a new sucker for Michael (long story) and picked up a few doughnuts. While standing in line at the U-Scan the man in front of him looked VERY familiar. "I know, he looks like Jeff Daniels" Daniel looks around the store and sees a radio station has a table set up. He says, "are you Jeff Daniels?" *smiles* "yes I am." "What are you doing at a Grand Rapids Meijers???" "I just released a Cd and this is one of my stops......" "Well, good luck with that"
phee
I have met him a couple times, he spoke at my X's graduation, and when I was student teaching in Chelsea High School my supervising teacher had him for as student a few years back. When I was working at a movie theater, he came in and got pretty peeved when my co-worker who was selling him soda did not recognize him.

phee
I find that I have the same reaction when people don't recognize me, which means I am pissed off almost all the time, because I am not famous to begin with.
gothicmom
*LOL* Remember Three Non-Blondes?? We were walking around the mall one day and saw them. Then we saw the lead singer at the music store and my daughter, 2 at the time< walked right up t her and started yacking at her! That gal thought she was the cutest-it was cute. We saw Depeche Mode at a pavillion venue at an amusement park. While waiting we walked around and passed Andrew Fletcher, righ t in the middle of the crowd going in! I stopped and looked at Daniel with that "was that...." look and he had the same look!

Brenda Starrr
I brushed up against Christina and Andrea from Lacuna Coil at Ozzfest this past summer. I also met Zak Wylde from BLS and waved at Otep. That's as cool as I get.
gothicmom
We were at a music festival in NC. We were sitting along this curb or landscaping ties (i can't remember) eating some pizza. These girls ran up to the guys standing behind us and started in with "OMG!! We love you guys sooooooo much! You are the only reason we came to this show!!!!" On and on like that. I don't even remember who they were. Cowboy...something, it was in 98. It was just funny that we were sitting in front of someone famous and didn't know it.

Fierce Critter
Hmmm... Don't know if this counts, but while waiting to get into Industry to see Cyndi Lauper in the early '90's, she was out talking to the crowd with a camera crew filming for a video. I approached her, and just as I did, her camera crew took off for the end of the line, and she was kinda left standing there while the crowd followed the camera crew - nobody seemed to notice she was not with them. It was a great opportunity. I was in my "shop a demo tape to anyone I can throw one at" period, and had one ready for her - I had intended to throw it onstage. I approached her respectfully, said how much I admire her and gave her the tape (it was packaged in a cute envelope with a friendship bracelet inside). She said thanks very sincerely, and I said, "no - thank YOU" and let her go, maybe with a handshake. I'll shop a demo to anyone I can, but I don't generally fawn over celebrities. The thing that struck me with her, besides just how nice she was, was how tiny she is. I'm only 5'2", and I don't think she was even that tall. Besides that... I have one of the billions of guitar picks Rick Neilsen of Cheap Trick has thrown into the audience. I know people with better stories. One you may feel obliged to laugh at - My husband's mother dated the now-dead half of Milli Vanilli. Go ahead - laugh. He does. But I had a friend who was a lot luckier. He also has a Cheap Trick story, but in his, he was practicing with a band in a studio in the warehouse district of Detroit. They were walking out, and Cheap Trick was walking in. Guess they use that space when they're in town. Even better... the same guy was a St. Andrews Hall in the late 80's/early '90s, don't remember which. He was sitting at the bar with a friend, and this guy walks by that looks a little like Ian Astbury of the Cult. My friend and his friend start arguing over whether or not that, in fact, IS Ian Astbury, when all of a sudden, this guy sitting unnoticed by them at the bar says, "that's not Ian Astbury, I'M Ian Astbury". And he takes off his hat and his hair falls down, and sure as shit - it's him. He was there apparently with Edie of the song fame. Oh - and I met Oopsy the clown, and I have photo evidence. Top that. I used to love playing at that park. I often wonder what my life would of been like had we stayed my entore childhood. The first thing i ever stole(chicklets) was from Polly's. The_Dark
I sat at a bar talking with a guy about some rather cool subjects for about 3 hours while I waited for Black Flag to take the stage. I thought it odd he was drinking water the whole time, but never commented on it. Then when they announced the band he made excuses and left. I went in and did some slam dancing. At some point I realized that I had been sitting there with Henry Rollins the whole time.

Darque Knight
In my many years of retail I had sold things to Barry Sanders, Dennis Rodman, Darren McCarty and a few other Detroit sports figures. Also when I was in 6th Grade, Jack Palance visited my school... all I remember from that was how freaking tall and scary he was.
Fierce Critter
Also when I was in 6th Grade, Jack Palance visited my school... all I remember from that was how freaking tall and scary he was. What in the world was Jack Palance doing visiting an elementary school??? Did you know who he was? Damn, I knew who Jack Palance was at that age (about 12?) from B-horror movies. Oh - one I forgot. I was a volunteer at the Detroit Zoo's Butterfly/Hummingbird garden not long after it opened. I was working the floor with another girl one day and this guy came in and she got all geeked, especially when he approached us (accompanied by a woman and a baby in a stroller) and asked us to throw out an empty cup for him (which my fellow volunteer probably kept). She told me he was Brendan Shanahan of the Red Wings. This was years before I got into the Wings, so I couldn't have cared less. Now, though, I look back and realize she wasn't shitting me. My sister and her husband are actors living in Florida. They've done a handful of projects with famous people. Both of them did extras work in the movie "Roseville" about a black town burned to the ground by whites in the early 1900's. They did a straight-to-video piece of crap called "Oliver Twisted", and my brother in law has a speaking role in a scene with (drum roll please) Erik Estrada, and my sister has a speaking role in a scene with Karen Black. Probably the most prestigious work either of them has done yet was the brother-in-law was in that Nasa series Tom Hanks directed for I think it was HBO a few years back. He had to audition for Hanks, got to speak with him, and ended up in a few scenes as a control-room geek, with a few spoken lines. I think they both did some scenes for a Gus Van Sant movie, too, but I don't remember for sure. Via them, I am only 2 (or does this count as 3) degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon. 1) I'm the sister in law of a guy who 2) was in a series with Tom Hanks who 3) was in Apollo 13 with KEVIN BACON.
