I personally enjoyed them all. Each director had full range on the vision of the world in the movies, and I like them all in turn.

Ironically, I am watching my 9-disc quadrilogy of the movies, and listening to the background and thought processes (going to watch them a second time for the movies.) I can understand the thought processes for each of the directors.

All of them looked like fun projects to be involved in.

The psychology of Alien has always been very interesting to me... The Aliens appearence, it's movement, .... it is very sexual almost....

It has a man getting violated, and pregnant, which kind of brings to the surface a sort of "male rape fear" and the Alien and Riply sort of had this sexual dynamic as well.

(I mean her and her pussy cat are trying to get away from it the whole movie... and she finally gets rid of it by "blowing it" out of the airlock while she is strapped down...)

Maybe I read too much into things? Or maybe the movie is just that thought out.

Well, H.R. Giger *did* design the aliens based on artwork inspired, in turn, by his night terrors (he is prone to them.) Both sexual and very, *very* disturbing.

According to one of the discs, Sigourney Weaver wanted to have sex with the alien at one point in the movies.

I can totally see what you are saying here...I think they meant to do that...it is a device that is at once; Terrifying & Fascinating to most men in America...&/or the Joan of Arc template they used for Riley..

She did, in the 4th movie.

If we're talking about the theatrical versions, Aliens is the best.

If we're talking about the director's cut DVD editions, Aliens is the worst. It's just as good as the theatrical version, but the other three get that much better when seen as the directors intended.
