Brian4wheels
Hi everyone. Your friendly neighborhood Brian4wheels here with a question for everyone here that I thought would be interesting just to see what kind of responses I get. We are all here as friends on DetroitGothic.net, so my question is: What IS Goth? I'm not looking for a definitive right or wrong answer here. I just figured it would be cool to get everyone's take on what a Goth is, how one who is Goth looks, what he or she does and or carries themselves seeing as how(and yes i'm letting out a big secret here...) I myself am not Goth. I joined because my friend Angel said it was a great place to hang. And she was right. So that's the deep question for today readers: What is Goth? jynxxxedangel
To me, being "goth" merely means the premise of enjoying life in dark, sybaritic pleasure. To see things through the glass darkly, so to speak. My own personal manifestation of "gothness" drives me to seek out the customs, quaintness, and luxurious clothing of other decades, and embroider them into the black silk-velvet sampler which is my existence-- adding a slight touch of witty darkness with each stitch. Gothic is a state of being in which the imagination imitates the style of grotesque art; our clothing is usually a mixture of darkly irreverent fashion sense entwined with everyday sensibility. Anyone or anything can be gothic, if the correct sentiments and details are lovingly applied. This is my best attempt at 'splaining.
Simon Bar Sinister
So that's the deep question for today readers: What is Goth? I looked it up in the dictionary, and it said, "Not you, SOTG".
