uber platforms

Those of you who remember half of the stuff that I did in Ferndale and elsewhere may remember that I'm also a stiltwalker. The way I got started in stiltwalking was realizing that I had no problem with 5.5" platform boots. Anyways, it looks like I might have a chance soon to put on order some very high platforms for the places where I can't get away with stiltwalking in and to put me above the crowd for shows.

And yes, for most shows, I expect to have to take these boots off at least once since I'm a bladewalker and a glasswalker.

Does anyone know of any company besides Pleaser USA that sells affordable high platforms that do not look like stripper shoes? Does anyone know of any local shop that could make a normal pair of boots into platforms?

So, these are my top choices...

Choice 4

Choice 4 is 7.5" in sizes 6-12 (which may or may not fit since I think I might be a 13 in their system for that style based on prior experience... I'm a 10, 11 or 12 in most of their other shoes.). The others are 8.0" in sizes 6-14.

I've a pair of those. The heels on mine are 9 inches, and the platform is about 5".

I have no trouble walking, running, or dancing on grass, wood floors, or carpet with them, but as for the type of hard concrete or tile floors at nightclubs, they are so uneven and slippery!! If you catch the edge of that stack on anything, you're goin' DOWN!! Be sure to put rubber grips or skateboard grip tape on the soles, dear! :)

P.S. Words of wisdom from an old stripper, who's worn many pairs of stacks. ;)

Which ones do you have?

How does the sizing compare to your other shoes?

Yeah, I'm almost inclined to do that with my platforms due to wear. I do so much spinning at City that combat boots which should not wear out for years wear out in less than half a year.

I have the shoes which have a thick, criss-cross velcro strap at the ankle. They seem to run pretty true to size-- I wear a size 7, and there is a perfect amount of toe-room and arch support. They're actually my fave pair of work shoes. :) As you see, mine are just a bit beat up, as they're about ten years old. The wear on the toe is from using the bar.

That style has crossed my mind before until I actually met someone who could wear ballet boots for a long period of time... She basically told me that I would break my ankle if I tried because I don't have the years of ballet training.

For me, it's not a fetis, but knowing that the only way anyone is going to be wearing taller shoes is by ordering the same pair, ordering a custom pair from Italy (I forgot what that company was called), or wearing stilts that excites me. One of my projects for next year is to make a pair of stilt covers that look like stompy boots. :)
