How you made the world a better place today

With so much negativity in the spotlight and with world seemingly crumbling around us, it is easy to feel helpless to do anything about it. Well we do not really have any control over what is happening on a global scale, the small things we do everyday can and do have an impact, positive or negative, in our small little corner of the world. We need to start paying attention to the small little positive things we and others do, acknowledge them, appreciate them, and make an effort to keep doing them. Whether it be simple or not, things like smiling at a stranger, thanking someone by name, volunteering, recycling, teaching a child to be respectful, comforting someone who needs it, tutoring, spending time with someone lonely, making someone feel welcome, being courteous and polite, whatever. I'm sure I can go on and on and still miss things.

So, I ask you: What did you do today, to make the world a better place?

When I give change to customers, I put the coins in their hand first and then give them the bills. Things are easier to hold that way. I hate it when I go through drive-throughs and they give me my bills then lay the coins on top where they have a habit of sliding off and landing on the ground under my car.

Today, I worked.

What I do in general is -

Volunteer time at Childrens Hospital

Volunteer time on occasion at Shriner Hospitals

Have worked with a few youth groups focused on teenagers whom have slipped through the cracks.

When I can, I buy the homeless a cold beer and talk to them. Most have had an interesting life, have interesting stories to tell...and if I had to live on the streets I'd want a fucking beer to make it all go away too, so I sure as fuck won't judge them for it.

Today?

I haven't left the house yet.

And with the way I look this morning, that alone makes the world a better place.

But yesterday, I took the babies for a walk in the neighborhood and stopped by ALL the little old ladies' houses. (OK, that really wasn't for THEIR benefit, it was more for mine. 'You think my babies are the most beautiful babies you've ever seen? No? Really? Tell me more!')

I donated a bunch of formula, diapers and stuff to the crisis pregnancy center.

And I showed my mom how to send an email with an attachment. It took an hour and a half.

She'll forget everything by Tuesday.

Oh well.

She seemed happy at the time.

I helped make my daughter feel beautiful

Your daughter IS beautiful..holy shit!! She'll be a heart-breaker in no time. ;) Actually you have three very beautiful daughters, but I know the one of which you speak.. heh

This past weekend I helped with the 3 day breast cancer walk..and I went to a Benefit on Saturday night at the Old Miami. Of course, I think it all benefited me more.. :/

I guess I should get working on the things for today..
