Kids with Cancer Show

Yep, that's right. We're puttin on a show for "Kids with Cancer" in July. All proceeds are going to them and with each ticket there's a free drink plus all the metal music you can stand to listen to Also, there will be some head shaving for donations and show of support. We're bringing 5-7 bands out from Edmonton for this, so hopefully there's a huge turn out. I want to set up something like this down in Mi toward the fall since I'll be down. Would anyone be interested if I set something up like that down there??

Aww, c'mon, there's got to be SOME people willing to be apart of a charity event.. i.e. bands, other promoters, I already have venues in mind.

I was going to place it there in the Music one, but its not anywhere near the date that I'm looking at - so I was just checking to see who would be interested in coming out or playing for the show - The one up here isn't going to be till July so I was looking for a November date. When it gets closer, I'll put it in Music. But it will be in Michigan, this one up here is just because the promoter from Edmonton contacted us saying that it went successful out there so it would work out here (we're two hours away from Edmonton) so thats what got this ball rolling. I cannot wait - I'm excited! This is the 2nd show I've been involved with setting up and its my hubbys 2nd for him as well.

It sounds like a good idea and I would certainly buy a ticket. Now are you looking for metal bands to play at this event? I'm just sort of confused as to what you are asking. It's obviously a good cause.

Well, Up here, metal is the big local scene so that's why it's easier for us to have them play. I'm totally open to an all Industrial gig (I'd preferr it) but any music will do. Looking for 7-10 bands given the date/time, then we will know how long each can play - I would like to give each about an hour or more - I know its hard to get good set times so the bands should appreciate that. I know of a couple I can contact in the Michigan area. All proceeds go to Kids with Cancer foundation and shaving of the head is optional We've got most of the bands coming out here on gas expences only, with given permission to have a bash afterwards and crash here if need be. Some venues make you charge a drink fee first if your'e setting up a show, I heard Magic Bag does that, but along with the ticket price, I would like to give free drinks, possibly merchandise if bands are willing to cooperate on that. The ticket cost will also depend on the venue and their participation in this. Granted, we're going to have to front some cash but I'm not at all worried about that.

The date is going to be permantly announced as soon as I get the ok from their gov. to come and go in and out of the U.S. into Canada whenever I please, which will be in the next few short weeks. Like I said, I'm looking toward November.

The venue isn't going to be a hard thing either becuase most love this kind of publicity and I was thinking about getting a few radio stations involved like the "wrif" or 89x since I know they have a huge listener base.

I will gladly take email addy's from bands and people willing to be part of this event. Brian (the Edmonton promoter) is going to shoot us a line with all the contact information for the organization so we know where to send this to and have permission to use their name ect. and after we get that - We'll have much more info availible.

I don't want to make this an 18 and up deal - but I want people to still have a good time for a good cause.
