Rev.Reverence
It's all about knowing when to *not* listen to the lil' droid... ...we had to do that recently with Iris...that thing ALWAYS wants to send us down the main street to the freeway, THAT'S not the way to the freeway All in all, they are pretty cool lil' droids. ('cept I needs a tin hat to operate one...)
Msterbeau
Thinking people need to separate the ability of GPS to pinpoint where you are from the software that gives you driving directions. To get places I generally map it beforehand and establish my route visually. I never use driving directions from software. I sometimes use GPS on my iPhone if addresses are hard to read. It's also used when I ride my bike and I use an app that records my speed, distance and route.
Msterbeau
I think of them as a crutch I don't need that is starting to fail because no one is maintaining the satilites that make it work. So, why start using the crutch thats just going to get swept from under me within the next few years? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPS_modernization

Msterbeau
It kinda' has to pinpoint where you are, before telling you where to turn... I mean the route it takes you to get from one place to another. That's decided by the software on your device, not by the actual GPS hardware in orbit around the planet. Gaf The Horse With Tears
http://en.wikipedia....S_modernization Do you know why those incentives are in place if they get things done by 2011? I'll tell you. Congress waited 10 years to approve a contractor to do the work. It wasn;t until the Military (In Decemter of 2009) reported to that GPS satilites will start falling out of sky, litterally, sometime in 2012 and system failures will start in 2010 (which they have) that Congress finally did something. creatureofthenyte
I think that German Shepard up in Alaska; Buddy! If you saw the video on the news, then you know what I'm talking about. I think Buddy would make a great GPS.
