OMG - Jon's out without me!!!

Jon and I tend to be attached at the hip. Hell, we're so bad, we're practically a single entity. We LOVE each other's company, and really don't go out of our way to spend time with others. Particularly not without both of us there.

But that's never been by decree on either of our part. We just plain like each other that much, and dislike others that much, too. Basically two misanthropes who have enough in common we compliment each other's social needs to a T.

That said, there have been times Jon has been invited to go do things with the guys at the shop. Fishing, bars, etc. He won't go to bars 'cause he doesn't drink, and doesn't trust these rednecks when THEY drink. And he won't go to titty bars with them 'cause it's just not in his comfort zone. And even fishing - he just plain would rather go fishing with me, 'cause I like fishing, and we both share similar attention spans that have us wanting to quit at the same time usually.

But he got an invite from a guy at work who recently married to have all 4 of us go fishing together. I like this guy's wife, and it's a nice thought to get together with them and have some conversation & fun. I was all for it - until I got sick the other day. I've been down with a nasty cold for a couple days.

Well, Jon REALLY wanted to go fishing. So I encouraged him to see if he could go alone with the couple. And it turns out the wife has an illness of her own, so she's down for the count too.

So Jon ended up going alone with the guy. YIPPEE!!

I don't mind fishing. In fact, I like it. Just not late-night fishing with smelly liver as bait, on ponds that are mosquito-infested and rife with snakes (the few times I've gone at night, you can see them swimming across the water near shore).

I'm so glad he's got an opportunity for "being a guy" like this. There's a guy he sometimes went ice fishing with in Michigan I hope he can hook up with when we're back.

Then I'LL need some evenings out with my lady friends from DGN.

I find it can really be good for a relationship to have a chance to do stuff like that. Hell, it's good even if you aren't in a relationship.

I need more girlfriends to do stuff with - hurry up and move dammit!

We're working on it. Won't make it by the end of June, but by setting such a goal for ourselves, it helped jump-start our efforts to make it happen ASAP.

We have 1/6th of the $$ we need in the bank right now. Should have at least 1/3rd by the end of the month. And Jon gets an "extra" paycheck in June, which will be about another 6th, so by the end of June, I expect we'll be at least 1/3rd there with the $$, with just the job acquisition left.

We'll be there before summer's end. And I'll be anxious for some girly goings-on. I may be basically misanthropic, but I'm about the most sociable misanthrope I know.
