Balance is better. But, if you get rich in a hurry, you could have the best mid-life crisis ever.

I intend to own my own business....after I have the house that I want.

I'm a firm believer in the mindset that - no one is going to give you the life you want. You want it? Get off your fucking ass and get it.

That makes sense. I wish you the best in all your endeavors. You have to follow your heart, and if it's telling you career is the way to go, I can respect that.

The trick is, finding a woman who can put up with my professional ambition lol.

Maybe you can find someone who wants an "arrangement", at least for the time being, one that fits her schedule, too. And then, maybe when your life slows down, it could be something more. I'm crossing my fingers for you.

+1

I know what it is to fight, bleed, and sweat for a dream. For me, it is not just a job, it is a quest of the soul. I feel connected to the greater sine qua non of the universe when I work, and I am that much more alive. There are some of us that, well, let's face it, enjoy and thrive in our job more than the average person in our profession.

I just wish I wasn't solo in this journey. I have been the bent ear for many people to vent, but I rarely have anyone to confide in myself. It would be nice to have a confidant, we may crack wise with each other, or maybe even pick on each other a bit. But I would feel comfortable trusting my heart to, and she would trust me with hers.

However, I have not found one yet. But everyone I have thus far encountered romantically want the end product, and not hang around for the journey, which is hard, painful, and loaded with pitfalls. I don't know if they were expecting perfection or something else. But I am human, at least as far as I am aware of. We are not perfect, but we care, and we never stop trying.
