Told you it would be hit or miss. lol well, actually, I don't think I got around to saying it, yet... lol who knows... I don't think that we know each other well enough to do this, though... but its worth a shot. If all goes well, I'll have a little bit of money, to do this, if not, I won't be able to participate....

No, I thought about this too. All that has to be done is get a helpful moderator to be in charge of picking & matching the names. Let's say 6 people say they want to participate, they write the 6 names separately, put them in a hat or whatever, then grab 2 at a time, then those 2 have to buy for each other.

Then the Mod will post who got matched. I will participate. I suppose we also need a dollar amount limit as well. The fun of getting gifts for someone on DGN is trying to guess how well you may know the person. We would also need to get the person's involved to give their address, some people may not want to. I don't go to DGN events, so.

I dunno, we'll see, we still have some time. That's just my 2 cents. If there happens to be an extra name, the gift can go to the Mod who helped us put this Secret Santa together.

LoL, this is how we do our families gifts every year because there's so many kids between us all.

Miranda you should be the mod

Technically, I'm not a DGN Moderator but I can definitely be in charge of it. No problem. Whoever wants to participate in this Secret Santa please let me know by Friday, December 12th by 5:00 p.m. Please inform me by pm and also include your address because the person who will buy your gift will need it to send it to you.

Please have your gifts postmarked no later than Friday, December 19th and earlier if the person is out of state. This is going to be a blast. I can't wait to see who I get to buy for.If you have any questions , please feel free to contact me. Thank you. I will draw and match the names on Friday, December 12th @ 5:00 p.m and pm it to all concerned by that evening.

Let me guess.. you do it on Thanksgiving too? :) After a while, you have to begin to draw names, there are too many people to buy for.

Nope. We do it like two weeks before. I come from a family of procrastinators who do not (normally) celebrate Thanksgiving ... unless my Dad declares they are.

(Long story there, my mother is Cherokee Indian. My father's parents are German and Irish. For a long time he didn't celebrate it because my mom didn't. Then suddenly he started declaring "We're celebrating Thanksgiving this year!" every once in awhile.)

  • 3 weeks later...

Due to lack of interest, Secret Santa is not happening this year. It was a nice thought Gimp, maybe next year! Eleven, Gimp and myself were the only 3 persons to show any interest. You need that fourth person for a nice even exchange. :)

If Eleven or Gimp wanna pick up the torch, please feel free to do so. You two could exchange with yourselves, it's a thought.

    • I am currently floored.   FedEx did a massive 6 box delivery to the wrong address.  I had an autoship order scheduled to arrive before this past weekend.  Nothing showed up.  I contacted the order site and they had a link for the order...a photo of all my boxes thrown in the snow and up the sidewalk of a residence that was not mine.   You would think that at some point, the driver would have looked at the delivery address after they kept throwing box upon box at this location with no shelter from the elements.  They didn't even knock on the door to inform the residents that massive 65+ pound boxes were left all over their walkway.  Nope.  Just dumped them, took a photo as they were walking away and left.   I wonder what the person who found all of those misdelivered boxes must have been thinking when they saw them.  Maybe they kept everything to use, distribute or sell.  No idea.  No claim was filed on that end as of yet.   Fortunately for me, one of the sites that I ordered from, replaced everything at no extra cost.   Unfortunately, now I'm concerned for the other items yet to be delivered.   Needless to say, I'll be watching my notifications like a hawk.

    • ~~~~~ Yeah, thank you for the check-in.   Happy to say it was all a misunderstanding.  But she pulled out her "ghetto" and that's when things went South.  I get very professional minded when I enter into situations like that because when someone starts bring the court into conversations, I'm in court 2 times a year, every year, so don't go there with me because I will get legal all over you.   She did try to change what she thought she might have said, but I had to call her on it because it's all in written text.  Then she apologized and we were able to have a decent conversation.   I know I joke about me talking so much that people don't hear what I say except for keywords that they are looking for, but that is exactly what happened here.  She heard "payment", "money" and "help out".  It was crazy.  I literally had to have the entire conversation all over again, but I definitely condensed it to only address those 3 words.   Things are back on track, but I emphasized that if she every needed clarification for anything, please say something first instead of jumping to conclusions, then questioning that conclusion, then answering that conclusion, then getting upset at the answer and taking it out on someone who doesn't have a clue what the San Juan Hill just happened.   But this is exactly the reason I do everything with a paper trail.
