Guess I'll be doing some fastforward this week ha.

Whiskey Lullaby

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The "saddest" song i've ever heard was sung to me in a pub in a small town near Conwy, at last call. This is why i say Welsh people are the best people I've ever known. The locals just took a liking to me and we were having a talk around the bar and they asked me if i'd like to hear a song from "the best singer in all of Wales". -I swear to you, this guy had a hell of a voice and towards the end the others all helped him, they knew the song too.

Over there, i think that's common, pub songs are, although here people don't do that, although our national anthem was originally a pub song (in the early days we did have them, apparently). It's amazing, the commorodary that breeds-nothing comparable here...The English and Scots are very musical too, maybe just the Irish are more musical than the Welsh, I've heard of songs breaking out while you are standing in line at the gorcery store there...

Anyway, maybe you can help me with this one but then again, maybe it was just sort of local-i don't remember the title or much of the words, i was fucking bombed. It was about a man who works his whole fucking life in a mine and then it drys up on him when he's gotton old and needs the money most because his health is going. They garaunteed me i'd have at least a tear in my eye by the end of it and i really did.

Seasons in the Sun by Terry Jacks

I always thought of that song as extremely goofy... my brother & I used to make fun of it endlessly back when it was a top 10 hit & on the radio constantly. But looking at the lyrics w/out hearing it, really gives me a different perspective on it. Interesting.

I've read that before & it's hard to believe, mainly because that tune is sooo fukkin hard to sing! I can't imagine trying to do it drunk. But maybe it works better that way & that's why it's got all those cockeyed changes & whatnot... who knows...

Maybe it'd be better to sing drunk because if wasted, one might actually believe the words in it...just a thought.

The Beach Boys make me very sad--AND annoyed. I'd say that they should be castrated, but they don't have any balls. No offense to any BB fans on the site...

was this post meant for me to see?

you know you are wrong. "She Knows me too well" and "That's not me" are great songs.

Yeah, I figured you'd see it and defend the band, but I had to say how sad they make me in this thread.

:grin

the only thing about the Beach Boys is that 'Good Vibrations' has a theremin part in it. They thoroughly suck though. I mean you never see anyone walking around in a Beach Boys jacket...

Did I tell you that my stereo won't play BB CDs for some reason? It just rejects them and spits them out. :whistling

laugh it up now missy.

I'm bringing over the BB box set, and there's not much you can do about it considering I'm stronger than you.    :laughing

no, you did tell me. That's why I took the liberty of replacing your stereo this afternoon. ABC warehouse is there right now dropping off the new shiny JVC Beach Boys ready CD player. So we're good. Thanks.
