I don't mean to bring down the mood, but I figured since I've been talking about my trip to Poland, I should mention part of the reason we're going.

You see, my mother has Stage 2 Ovarian Cancer and Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer, both completely seperate, primary cancers. It will be a surprise if she lives another year.

Her middle sister, who still lives back in Poland, also has colorectal cancer, and unfortunately, the Polish healthcare system is just not as advanced as ours. She will be dying sometime within the year.

And my Babcia (Polish for grandmother) has rheumotoid arthritis that she got while standing in knee high water in a German armory during WWII. It's getting so bad that she can't walk up stairs.

But here is my secret. I sort of don't want to go... I understand that this will be probably the last time I get to see my Chocia (Aunt) and my Babcia, but I don't want to have to see them like this.

Plus, I love my mother sooooo much, but she is a very stubborn, very irratible person. And that has been exacerbated by the chemotherapy. She can very often be an extremely difficult person to live with, especially without my dad around to sort of level her out.

On top of that, I don't really like my male cousins so much. Polish guys tend to have sort of a weird attitude towards women, or maybe it's just towards me.

I still love to travel, and I can't wait to see my family and explore the country. I haven't been back there since I was 9 years old, and it will be almost a completely new experience, it's been so long.

But there's still a part of me that doesn't want to go.

Medea, it's totally rational & understandable to not want to see people you love in a state you'd prefer they not be in. To prefer your memories of said person to be of them happy & healthy. So please don't feel guilty about that - I've been through several instances of that in recent years, and I completely relate.

Sometimes, it's even o.k. to CHOOSE not to see them like that. Whatever you think would make your life easier. If you believe in an afterlife, then you know they will understand if you choose not to visit with them in this stage of their life - once they have crossed, they will see and it will be o.k. with them.

As for your mother, forgive her. Well-up as much understanding as you can right now, and see past the stubborness & irritibility and love her for the good in her, especially right now. I find that, with my own mother's quirks, if I EXPECT her to act & behave a certain way, when she does, it's not a surprise and therefore is easier to get past.

That said, were you born in Poland? I'm 100% 3rd generation (grandparents came over on the boat), and love talking to people of the same culture. I only wish I could say more than "how you doing" and "kiss my ass" in Polish.

I have a friend that had an accident while he was serving in the military, i am not sure what the exact accident was, but from what i gather something hit him in that area and split one of his testies in two, so now he has three, and his sperm count is way above normal. He is good natured about it so i allways ask him how the triplets are doing.

I ment no offense to you by the way i just found it intresting that i knew some one who had 3 and you were actually born with three. Just very fasinating.

In future seasons We should split and share plants......... I just split up a whole bunch n gave em to my neighbor so i am tapped on this years extras.... but next year i should have a whole bunch more stuff to give away.
