Bellydancing...

It's actually become the fashion to hold classes in it at fitness clubs. I think Lifetime Fitness has them. Also, check out the classes at community education centers.

If I go to a class...that means my mom will need to know.

And that means she'll want to join me. :wallbash:

Novi has them in the summer, but not the winter. Canton doesn't have them at all. Those are the only ones I go to. I like Novi much better, but it's further away from home -- but close to my parents when they lived out there.

target="_blank (she's so awesome on the zills!)

You can find belly dancing classes at most community colleges.

Now I really want to learn...ughhh.

I go to a community college too, lol I'd have to look into it.

And you have experience in classical dance, Jynxxx? :w00t:

Yes, I have taken classical dance classes. I've danced en pointe (Russian technique), latin, ballroom, and a bit of jazz. It's been many years since, though!

P.S. My feet are still hideous from ballet. Imagine dancing on your toenails.

Yeah, I know what you mean.

I've taken ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, kickline, and pointe. This year we didn't have enough money so I could only take 2 classes...jazz and hip hop. I really did enjoy pointe though.

And for dancing for 13 years...I'm not as good as I should be. :X

But I enjoy it.

That was taken last year in my pointe class.

I'm the only one at the studio with a flexible back.

:X

If I could do that my back would be in heaven, it needs to crack so bad.

I can stretch even further now, lol

And...I wish I could find a picture of it. But the ballet pose where the girl bends her leg back and holds it over her head with both hands...I'm getting better at that.

I just need to get the balance.

That's the reason my back and feet are so wrecked, now! :p

Yeah. My back is good...for now.

But my feet are extremely arched and nimble.

Last year I was having issues getting the right sized box for my pointe shoe (I finally found the right style a week before my recital...I had to break them in quick) and so I lost both of my big toe nails. The one bled and the other got completely black and blue.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I hate you lol.

I took beginner classes last year at Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn. Was reasonable for $.

I grew up taking dance too (ballet, tap, jazz, acrobats), so it was nice to be in a classroom environment again after all those years.

It was alot of fun. The nice thing too, all women, and all ages, shapes, and sizes!

I'm just waiting for Goth Brooks to discover this thread and go

lol

Belly dancing is easy. Just pretend you're having sex, standing up, with no partner. The best way to practice is by having lots of sex, lying down, with a partner. *volunteers*

...No.

lol

I'm going to see if there are any at my college. It would be best to be in a classroom environment to learn it...better feed back.

The SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) does a bellydancing class, for free, on Sundays. (I think)

I've been warming up to going myself, but it's in Ann Arbor, and I have some pretty heavy social anxiety so I have yet to go, as I feel like I need "a buddy". LOL

What the fuck kind of sex are you havin'? Does not occur when Pest and I make hate, that's for sure .

My aunt and cousin actually run a belly dance tribe, I believe it's called Carnivale Majoon or something of the sorts. They perform at Ren Fest every year and travel around doing professional performances. They even incorporate swords and fire...which is totally badass and manly, the only way that could ever be trumped is if they managed to incorporate AK-47s, Chuck Norris, and an atom bomb for the finale.

I can try to get some info from them about local places that are good to learn at.
