Definitely the 'windy city' today! And the snow is almost no more!

I'm surprised we didn't get a tornado with that cold front moving in .. major temp drop.

Be careful driving etc today -- downed powerlines, trees, et al.

I could have SWORN there was a tornado touchdown, earlier..the wind was constant, merciless, and rumbling like a fully-loaded freight train. I've been in close proximity to tornadoes twice, so I know what one sounds like.

Although dangerous, I rather like all the strong wind we've been having. When combined with 50 degree temperatures instead of the cold freeze from several days ago, it actually feels kinda nice, so long as you have a coat covering your arms. I love listening to the wind from my window as well, it puts me in a meditative day dreamy state.

... Winter Storm Warning in effect from noon today to 4 PM EST

Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a

Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow... which is in effect from noon

today to 4 PM EST Saturday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in

effect.

Snow will overspread the region from the southwest through early afternoon.

Accumulations of 1-2 inches are possible by early this evening...

causing driving conditions to deteriorate by the evening commute. Snow

will be heavy at times with visibilities occasionally dropping

below one half mile. An additional 3 to 5 inches of snow is

expected overnight and will continue into Saturday afternoon

before gradually tapering off. The heaviest snowfall totals of 6

to 10 inches will be focused from I-94 south to the Ohio border.

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather

conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow

are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an

emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...

food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
