ignorance

well, since im feeling creative today, and since ive recently been able to access my old poetry again (thank god! i thought id lost it all!) heres another.

when we were young and full of promise

the world seemed a brighter place

sharper and clearer brilliantly clean

full of hope and sunshine that never set

we could never have imagined what would come

what would befall us at nightfall

the twilight of immortality, the end of childhood

we left our day in the sun, we fled straight on to night

skipping and laughing, caught fully unaware

we fell into that trap of life, never seeing what hit us

now bound and gagged, chained to our fates

coming to our senses for the first time

crying to see the error of our ignorance

crying because we miss our ignorance

dying to see the death of youthful bliss

dying at the sight of our foolishness

wishing for a chance to escape from this

wishing so hard for youthful ignorance
