guinea pigs

Recommended Posts

does anyone here have guinea pigs? I started out with 7 and intended on breeding a few but ended up with more than I bargained for... I now have 17 beautiful little pigs but I can't afford to keep all of them. So, I am trying to find good homes for about 5 or 6 of them at least... I was wondering if anyone here might be interested in purchasing any of them. I will post pics of the ones I want to get rid of. I normally wouldn't ask for money but I'm just trying to recoupe some of my expenses from feeding and caring for them. I plan on coming out to Detroit for new years eve so if Anyone is interested please let me know. They are all well cared for and I will only sell them to individuals who will properly care for them. They make wonderful pets and are both intlligent and gentle child friendly creatures. So, just let me know if you might be interested. I haven't decided how much I will ask for them but I guess it

Will be around 20 bucks each. They tend to go for

35 to 40 bucks in pet shops but I guarantee these are taken care of much better than any pet

Shop would do.

So, just let me know.

I always wanted a guinea pig but my mom wouldnt buy me one... No that I live alone I totally want one but my pockets are empty... If you have one left and no one want him or her I will gladly take him or her. Im not picky so no problem

I actually have one large male, he's gray and dark brown, kind of a salt & pepper look to him. He's a good pet, except that he has mated, and for some reason after male guinea pigs mate, they tend to bully other males. So, we had to seperate him from all the other males because of his behavior. Now don't get me wrong, he's a good pet, guinea pigs have never bitten me. Sometimes they might nibble at you a little but then they realize you're not food and stop, it doesn't even hurt they just kind of nibble and that's it.

I am willing to get rid of him for free because he is being kept in a cage that's just a little too small for him so I would like to get rid of him ASAP. Even though he is the father of all of the little ones, and I love him lots, I just don't have a cage that would be properly sized for him. He's not in a cramped cage, but it could use an extra square foot or two, so it's not like he's being mistreated. I will assure everyone here I am a HUGE animal lover and these little fellas are treated like gold. My wife and I refer to them as our fur-kids, and honestly, I don't want to get rid of any of them, but it's not economically viable for us to keep and feed and maintain 17 guinea pigs.

The other piggies I want to sell are all no older than 5 weeks at this moment in time. They are wonderful with kids and just plain cute. I will post some pictures either tonight (Tuesday) or tomorrow sometime (Wednesday) so you guys can see more for yourselves what you can choose from.

I will also provide anyone with any information they need for the proper care of guinea pigs because they do require a minimal amount of special care, such as Vitamin C supplements because their bodies do not retain Vitamin C for some reason. But other than that it's pretty simple.

*Edit - I also wanted to add that, (I'm not saying anyone here would do this) but I want to be assured that whoever takes these little fellas off of my hands will treat them well. I hate animal abusers almost as much as child molesters and rapists, so if I find out.. Well.. My boot knife will meet you soon ;-) j/k but seriously, I don't want these guys ending up as fireworks experiments or snake food. Thank you.

If your pockets are empty, will you be able to spend money on food and hay among other things for the pet? Just something to consider...
