The iPhone

Recommended Posts

So, my wife and I purchased two brand new iPhones for ourselves as Christmas presents. We got a great deal as AT&T as our carrier because they offer a 19% military discount on the monthly bill. Well, anyways we both got 8gig iPhones for under 400 bucks plus they took off 50 bucks from the activation fee for her being military personnel.

I have to admit I've been a long time hater of Apple products. However, this phone is the shit! I can do anything with it. Surf the net, use AOL instant messenger, listen to music, watch music videos, watch YouTube, I even downloaded an application for it called Pandora Radio that allows you to search for an artist and it will play songs by that artist and similar artists. I just got done listening to Legion by VNV Nation and it's now playing Every Day is Exactly the Same by NIN. They were playing some Covenant and some Assemblage 23 a few songs ago, as well. I have to say, with the mp3 player and GPS and live weather updates and internet access integrated into one device, it was the best 400 bucks we have ever spent. I used to be an anti-Apple person, and, I still am, as far as their computers go. However, the iPhone is the best thing since sliced bread. I'm extremely impressed by this handy little device. There's also about a million downloadable applications that you can get for various purposes, and I also like the fact that you can download and read almost any book you can think of to the phone, so it eliminates carrying around a big bulky novel if you want to read on-the-go..

So, if your'e considering a new phone, this is my personal reccommendation/testament for the iPhone. CHECK IT OUT!

The only have two issues with the iPhone (I have one too).

1. AT&T won't insure it. And I have yet to get a straight answer from Apple. I bought my iPhone used, but still under manufactures warranty as it was only used for a couple of months before I got it. My SIM card decided to quit working about a month ago and I had to pay $35 for AT&T to look at it and put a new one in it.

2. AT&T's phone service. It drops calls, poor reception and doesn't ring half the time -- but that's also consistent with the other phones on the same account (which aren't iPhone's) ... so it's the AT&T service, not the iPhone.

My iPhone is on an additional line off my parent's plan, that they pay for. Our cell phone account (my main line) is through Sprint -- whom I absolutely LOVE. As long as I have my Sprint phone for the calls, the iPhone is great for the e-mail, weather, surfing the internet, music (my car has an input for the iPhone/iPod cable so I use it in the car a lot), maps, etc. I love their Apple Apps. :)

my sister has one and says she can't message pictures to people. she has to email them. i think that sucks.

it seems like a cool phone (all that it can do) but i really don't like the touch screen. i'm not sure why? i'm sure others like that feature on it.

Yeah, I can't message pictures, or get picture mail. But it's a minor issue since I can get my e-mail from the phone with just a touch of the button. Sending it isn't too much of an issue since you can e-mail them pretty easily.

I can get attachments and PDF files through e-mail, which is nice.
