On the way home from work I got stuck behind some granny who thought the posted speed limit was 'idle' (uuuuuuuugh!)

We need a PSA to let these people know if they are that afraid of snow then please, please do the rest of us a favor and stay the fuck off the roads.

Thank you.

Here, here!!

I'll have to concur with the PSA. I am gradually getting my snow sense back (raised and taught to drive in the midwest and its lovely (slathering sarcasm) winter weather, quick practice in coming back.) But if you have problems with the roads and it *isn't* a life-or-death situation or the need for food or emergent supplies, STAY HOME.

As medical personnel, and still carrying a valid license to practice, I can be pulled from my research position in emergencies to help with clinical if swamped, so I can justify going to work daily because of that contingency. Please don't let me see you folks in the ER because you lost the fight with black ice, hit snow embankments, or (as one 19-year old girl did when I was an intern,) be splattered against a vehicle that is significantly larger than yours (she survived after 3 months in the hospital, an emergency craniotomy by neurosurgery and yours truly to relieve pressure the night I admitted her, and hella lots of physical and mental rehabilitation.)
