Brenda Starrr
Count me in. Line up the victims for shooting ... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Disclaimer : I did not solicit his help. He offered it to me. That's right. Msterbeau wants to shoot you! (With his camera, that is!) If you want to be in this calendar, and want a quality shot that's sure to please, please post here, as well as PM Msterbeau to make the arrangements. He kindly made the offer, which I thought was really, really nice. Any questions, PM me or Msterbeau. Thank you soooooooo much!

Msterbeau
YAAAAAAAAAAAY, Nienna! That's one. If I want my photo submitted...who's shooting me? Nienna... I assume you shoot by your recent reply to my modeling thread? I'll take yours if you take mine! I'm not particularly gothy but I suppose we could fix that with makeup and location.... Msterbeau
I''ll post this here and in the other thread: If you are submitting a pic... it should really be at least 500K to 1MB file size as a JPEG and triple that if it's a TIFF. Those are minimums.

Marblez
Does this pay? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hehe, mew thinks that the only "paying" involved will be for the purchase of your own calendar. If DGN were a legitimate business, it would have been bankrupt LOOOONG ago. :grin :laughing
Rozzlyn
Only if you consider payment being in the calendar. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, not necessarily. Paying for one's own photo-shoot can get expensive, and I'm under the impression that I'm not the only person here who probaly wouldn't be able to pay for that. If this is to be a labour of love for everybody involved, including the photographer, then by all means, count me in (if for no other reason than I'd like some portfolio shots without a cock in my ass), but see, I'm poor. I think there are others here who could describe themselves as "poor" as well.

I expect no money... nor will I pay for models. Yet. Labor of love is about right.
Brenda Starrr
PM either TomCat or Mstrbeau. Neither one of them has said anything to me about wanting money. I originally asked that people email me with pics, and then these two wonderful gentlemen offered to shoot. Believe me, I know how expensive shoots can be, but this is more of a labor of love. It was brought up a few times in the past, and I decided that I wanted to take it on. I hope that you'll be a part of it, Rozzlyn. It's going to be fun. If it's shared between all those who get their photos taken it shouldn't be too much per person. Doesn't seem right to have the photographer foot the entire bill for the cost of the photos. I work entirely digital. It costs me squat, other then capital costs of the equipment... most of which I own already. (I do need to get a couple lights/softboxes and a reflector or two. But I don't mind paying for those.. ) I suppose I would accept a donation but I don't expect it.
Fierce Critter
Are we still to submit pictures we've already got via e-mail to you, Brenda? And MB - thanks for the guidelines on file size. But what's also important for me (and perhaps others) to know is, what DPI and actual picture size? I have a pic I plan to submit, but wasn't sure it would print well calendar-sized because it was taken with a 1mp digital camera on the lowest setting, so it loads as about a 72 DPI jpg. Might do fine as a small, placeholder pic (like I described in the original poll on this subject), but might not be of good enough detail to print as a full page. I have only recently obtained a color printer, so I have some experimenting to do with printing, etc. My background is in desktop publishing, but I got out of the business before I learned much about going from computer to hard-copy when it comes to photographs. So I've always been confused about how digital pictures translate to printouts.

So I've always been confused about how digital pictures translate to printouts. Good questions. It's tough to give the dpi and image size since it's the overall pixel count that's important. A 1MP camera is frankly, crap. The amount of imformation collected is never going to be enough to make a decent image, even if the lense and all were top notch. There are guides out on the web that compare file size to print size. What I posted was my own judgement on what I think I can manipulate into something reasonable. It's worth noting that if you submit a photo at the minimum size...it needs to look really good at that size... it will degrade as it gets blown up. If you want me to give you minimum numbers : I'd call it 8" x 10" size.. 150dpi resolution. Another thing to be careful of is using Jpeg images.. They're what everyone uses but file size can be deceptive. Everytime you resave one from a base image it degrades in quality, because it's a "lossy" compression method. So you may have enough image size, according to my guide...but the image can be pretty crummy because it's gone through a few generations of saving.. Brenda? Would you mind forwarding what you get and so I can make recommendations about useability?

Brenda Starrr
None yet. Now that I have 2 volunteers, those who want to be in it need to get ahold of them. I'd like to have everything ready to go by (maybe) the end of October. It'll give me plenty of time.
