KatRN05
So how is everyone doing with their workouts? I just weighed myself, I've lost 92lbs since May. Another suggestion to those of us who are watching what we eat, keep a diet journal to track your food and calories. GothicRavenGoddess (3)
its the oddest thing: I haven't really lost weight since I last posted (I've more or less stayed in the 223-226 lb range) but my tummy is shrinking again lol I must be doing something right.... on a good note, and I made a really nummy soup that had very little meat in it. I may give my insides a much needed rest and eat a lot of veggies the next couple of days... I know this is a little TMI, but to be honest, my *clears throat* gas wasn't as smelly yesterday lol anyways, on to what my soup had in it: ~the base of it was cream of chicken (I never use a full can of water, since I like the taste of it as is... so I only add about a 4th of a can....) it was one of those cans that are about the size of two cans ~one can of diced tomatoes, juice and all (sometimes I throw them into a collendar and drain the juice out) ~one can of green beans (style doesn't matter, but because it was thick, the regular sized ones were best. they didn't get lost in the mix) ~one can of sliced carrots ~like 6 or so (cuz that's how many fit in there without the pot being too full of food) of those little red skinned potatoes - cut into 4ths and the really big chunks of those were cut down. I used the red skinned potatoes, because those are the only potatoes I'm suppose to eat. the carb make up is easy for my insulin resistance to break down for some reason... so I cooked all of that in a big pot until the potatoes were done, and then chowed down. as I said: nummy ^_^
Rev.Reverence
Great tips. Thanks. My problem with the portion control thing is that I always feel hungry or if I don't feel stuffed....I think I'm hungry and eating is a habit for me too. Soetimes I'll eat just cause I know it's breakfast time or something. I gotta stop that. ...there is an old training tip that my sensei taught the kids in our class... ..drink nearly a full glass of water BEFORE starting a meal...& if you eat a full portion, & are still hungry, you get a piece of bread, & another glass of water... Wheat bread actually tastes like a something..& it's good for you...eat as many whole grains as you can find! LOL!! No seriously, I edited this post because it initially said "Bread is the devil" but then I realized that I would be destroyed for my carb bashing and decided that I should specify that white bread, is in fact, the devil. But this is what I have been learning at Medical Weight Loss: Eat protein with every meal. Water, Water, Water if you eat something that is unhealthy drink a few extra glasses of water to flush it out. do not use salt, if you have to have salt use morton's light salt or something similar. Also try other seasonings for flavor. Don't use white bread, use, like Rev said, whole grains but limit your servings of breads, pasta, etc to 3 servings a day. So that is a sandwich and about a cup of cereal. If you like the taste of butter you can use spray butter which has no fat or use butter buds which actually tastes awesome. Okay now that I posted all this I better practice what I preach, right? Edited November 23, 2009 by kat

KatRN05
Carbs are evil (well not all), especially the refined ones, they make you crave more of them. My next weight loss goal is 60lbs then I will be at my goal weight. Edited November 30, 2009 by KatRN05
Enishi
Yep. One order of fries makes me want another order of fries. The same thing happens with brown rice, but at least that isn't as bad...
Destroit
You are NOT fat. Meh, by some people's standards I'm a twig, by the standards of supermodels I'm outrageously obese, it's all in perspective.
KatRN05
True, true. I know what ya mean. All of my friends think I'm slim and I'm thinking to myself "I'm not slim, I still need to lose more weight"....We are all fat compared to supermodels....of course we can't all be one not that it's what I'm striving for to begin with. It helped Me loose the initial weight, now for the rest I know I asked on Facebook, but which gym? Just curious. I try to go five days a week and INTENSELY (think: men, or Schwarzenegger...or possibly Chuck Norris, but now I think I'm just kissing my own ass) weight train three days a week. Then I fall asleep in their hot tub. I do arms on Monday, Abs/Core Wednesday, and legs Friday. Every other week I switch exercises (variety is the key to building, your body will get bored and say "eff you" if you don't) from machines to free weights (also machines vs. free weights do different things to your muscles) and do at least 30 minutes of cardio a day. w00t! Destroit
Heading to Bally's right now for a 30 minute cardio and shower, then it's off to work! If I have time, maybe I'll nap in the steam room after :. I'm going back later with Pest for weight training, hence why I wanted to get cardio out of the way right now.
