How long before you take the hint?

I have managed to collect over the years an experience. That experience is that if you ask someone out (date-wise/friendly, not as bf/gf), they initially tell you yes. But after not hearing anything from them, getting dates changed, or hearing that they just don't feel like it. Personally, I have let people know when I didn't want anything to do with them in that way. But others seem to not commit after they initially say yes. Too nice to say no?

I personally use the 3 strikes and move on method. I definitely don't want to waste anyone's time esp my own when it comes to this problem.

I use the two strike method but that's just me. I don't look at it that I'm wasting their time but rather they are wasting my time.

I know from exp that if one is not interested then someone else will be and there's no reason to worry or wait/give lots of chances.

If they change their mind and call me at a later time then maybe there's a chance but still, I don't worry.

well, i generally don't make "dates", i make plans to do something i want to do, and then let them know they're welcome to join me. if they don't, it's no sweat, since i'm doing something i wanted to do anyway. i'll give them another chance, because sometimes, things come up. same scenario - if they miss the next time, i don't bother telling them what i'm doing anymore.

As some advice from an extremely abnormal female the likes of whose advice is probably useless anyways... any relationship that's going to last will, and should, start off as a flirtatious friendship. There's a difference between being friendzoned and getting to know eachother. When things start off romantic immediately it's uncomfortable, and one feels the need to perform well, act accordingly, etc etc.

Start off this way, and the girl feels no pressure. Neither will you (hopefully)

Well, the point that I am getting at is way before a real relationship of any kind. For an experience I went through, someone gave me their phone number long ago without me even asking for it. I had never reached her ever on her phone, nor did she ever call back. Why someone would give out their number and not answer is beyond me. That is why I think some people are too nice to say no.

I think it depends on the situation... I just encourage honesty, and will outright ask them if I think I'm being avoided... lol
