HERE WE GO AGAIN - STOP YOUR BITCHING :-)

Recommended Posts

Oh sweet, a good DJ next week, I might come out and support that.

Then I have to go out and support Nix considering he's in the club now.

I'll see if the resident DJ got his act together next week. Maybe then I'll stop bitching about it... maybe.

Don't be an asshole Scary! lol

Actually Nix is also going to be bringing in a portable studio set up to take studio quality pics of people if they want one. And you know Nix... his photos are top notch.

So if you're gonna be critiquing DJ's Scary Guy then come and critique me.... that's right, I will be guest DJ'ing soon.

I use to DJ back when we had those things that spin and you controlled the track speed with your fingers and by ear and "Head Hunter" by Front 242 was "that cool new track". Well I've decided to start it up again so come check it out once I set a date.

You've got it, and I also expect you to do the same with me. I'm not the greatest ever by any means but I get by and people seem to enjoy what I do. I need some better VJ software badly though (rather than just using VLC to play videos lol).

Next week we have DJ Pleasure Kitten coming in and I can't wait. And of course it is the first DGN night so get ready!

The Next week I believe we're having Nix come as a guest DJ. Nix is an artist and photographer who also DJ's - you can see some of his work at Nix Myspace

FYI, Nix's Myspace is set to private, so you'll have to add him to see some of his stuff. :)

Well - all I can say is last night was cold and our crowd was thinner but the atmosphere was great and if there was a problem with the music last week.... it isn't a problem now. DJ Blayd did a great job last night. I saw the same guy hovering over him at the booth and I nipped that shit in the bud right there. There wasn't one track played that didn't make me want to "bust a move" lol!

I got to meet The Gimp and Prick. They are some cool guys and Prick has a whip... nice. The Gimp is pondering getting suspended next week.

We had a B-day party for Kiss the Midget (Greg) and it was crazy - Jamie got cake icing smeared in her face by Nix and I laughed so she smeared some on me... that was kind of hot.

Thanks to all for coming.

PS - we're working on posting play list soon.

A playlist would be good, until I see one, I wont be coming back, although Livininetcgoth probably will still show regardless. Hope Kitten has fun next week.

I really wish I was still DJ'ing with him but it just wasn't in the cards. I do hope he comes back out to guest DJ sometime though.

As far as VJ software goes I was hoping for something free and open source, but since there are NO GOOD programs for that which are free and open source I was thinking about PCDJ FX with the video plugin or whatever their latest offering is. I love their DJ software (even though I've been using Traktor 3 a lot lately). I'd also like something that could play anything. If I knew how to code I'd make a fork in VLC and create my own DJ/VJ software.

Oh.... and where the hell is the works?

We have a myspace at www.myspace.com/deadlineworks or you can look at that thread I made with all the nights in it.

But since you asked it's about two blocks west of the old Tiger Stadium at the corner of Michigan Ave. and Rosa Parks Blvd.

I'm a sap, I can't help it, I like giving people second chances. Besides, if anything I can get everyone to request that the guest play more if the resident still sucks.

The night you all came down was ... too me, the worse night you could have when it came to the DJ and the Music. If there could have been a problem there was one and to top that... he had a guy up there pressuring him to play a lot of that crap. I didn't know this until 2 days after the night. We set that straight and when I saw it about to start again I had a talk with the "guy". Told Blayd that, that guy doesn't work here and not to stray from our formula. Last night was great - a good balance of songs. I had to practically put a gun up to Blayds head last night to get him to play a NIN remix that I like lol.

But just remember this, we're not a carbon copy of CC and don't want to be. Where all the other nights are more about the music and dance floor, we're offering something more.... I'm not saying better and I'm not comparing us to deadline or necto or CC just that we are and want to be a bit different. We don't want you to walk in and say "this is just like deadline" we want you to walk in thinking this is different.... and like it. We are more about the atmosphere and the visual thing along side the audio. We are into a sleazy side show thing, not a vampire lair... yet..... vampires are very welcome! :-)

So with that, maybe coming in knowing that might make you feel a little different about the situation and by all means don't walk in expecting Disintegration Disco... we never set out to be anything like that at all. You have to admit, we did turn over the look and feel of the place that never was accomplished before. We really are here for the scene and not to line our pockets so instead of dissing us like some did.... maybe a little advise and check us out from time to time to see the progress... it will evolve.

Believe me I wasn't expecting anything walking in :) But it has evolved since the days of Disintegration Disco. I mean who bring in a casket and puts it right in the middle of the dancefloor? (OK I thought it was cool at the time. Should have put it on the stage though). No, you guys did accomplish what Dave and Maria couldn't with the look and feel of the place. I mean it still looks like The Ritz, but it's getting better.

Just be careful though because you're offering the scene something different and a lot of people in the scene hate change. I also wouldn't harp on you guys if I didn't care. I just really wasn't impressed with the DJ, not just the track listing. However I'm willing to give him another shot. I'm also not telling anyone not to go either. Quite the opposite, I think everyone SHOULD go. Just because I don't like it might not mean that others won't either and they should go see for themselves. I wouldn't worry anyhow since no one listens to me anyway. Not to mention the live music is a nice touch too when it goes on. We need more of that as well in this scene.

Good luck and I will more than likely be out next week... maybe. It depends on how long the taping for Nightmare SINema goes.

Well, we voted for change right? lol I don't expect everyone to like it - those that do will come back, those that don't wont. The biggest thing is you cant judge this book by its cover.... it is slightly different each night with a general theme. DGN night will be more CC but the other nights will have other things to offer. What we are trying to capture is the many different lifestyles within the scene and highlight them. It is amazing how many different people in the "scene" have completely different lifestyles than others. Some like it hot - some like it stale, some want adventure - some like security and comfort. We're trying to have a very non-uptight place where people within the scene can express themselves a bit more without feeling like someone is judging them. This is our very point. Grown adults should be able to have the type of fun they want in public without someone else looking down on them and pointing fingers... that too me is what the Goth "lifestyle" and "movement" is all about. A safe haven for the individual.

Someone is always gonna bitch - I expect that.
