Homicidalheathen
I know, Mick is ugly as shit but gets hot models preggers then gets sued over...and over....but he still has awesome stage presence. I hear he runs 5 miles on stage in one show. And keith...yes he is a living pharmaceuticle test kitchen. But wow, what a carreer! They were my fav band when I was in my teens and I have still never seen them play live and in person! Look at this song list! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:The_...ng_Stones_songs If I could do a few Stones covers they would be: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paint_It,_Black http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/19th_Nervous_Breakdown http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2120_South_Michigan_Avenue (written the yr I was born!) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fool_to_Cry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Get_off_of_My_Cloud http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hang_Fire http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mother%27s_Little_Helper http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Out_of_Time_(...ng_Stones_song) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Under_My_Thumb and of coarse... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sympathy_for_the_Devil I would do dark, electronic versions with more keys than guitars
candyman
I am still wondering if it is possible to kill Keith...isn't he just a real life zombie? They are still a great band...although they will have to quit sometime. They may never die but after 200 years it will start to get old.

Homicidalheathen
found it...now I MUST READ it!! LOL it would be about Tequilla wouldn't it... Songfacts: . This perpetuated the image of the Stones as frightening bad boys, as opposed to the clean-cut Beatles. It was great marketing for the band. The lyrics were inspired by The Master and Margarita, a book by Mikhail Bulgakov. British singer Marianne Faithfull was Mick Jagger's girlfriend at the time and she gave him the book. Faithfull came from an upper-class background and exposed Jagger to a lot of new ideas. In the book, the devil is a sophisticated socialite, a "man of wealth and taste." Jagger claims this is about the dark side of man, not a celebration of Satanism. A documentary by French filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard called One Plus One captured the recording of this song, which took place over 5 days: June 5, 6, 8 - 10, 1968. At one point, a lamp for the documentary started a fire in the studio. The tapes were saved, but a lot of the Stones' equipment was destroyed. (thanks, Rich - Midland Park, NJ) The original title was "The Devil Is My Name." Says Jagger: "Songs can metamorphasize. And Sympathy for the Devil is one of those songs that started off like one thing, I wrote it one way and then we started the change the rhythm. And then it became completely different. And then it got very exciting. It started off as a Folk song and then became a Samba. A good song can become anything. It's got lots of historical references and lots of poetry." Keith Richards (2002): "Sympathy is quite an uplifting song. It's just a matter of looking the Devil in the face. He's there all the time. I've had very close contact with Lucifer - I've met him several times. Evil - people tend to bury it and hope it sorts itself out and doesn't rear its ugly head. Sympathy for the Devil is just as appropriate now, with 9/11. There it is again, big time. When that song was written, it was a time of turmoil. It was the first sort of international chaos since World War II. And confusion is not the ally of peace and love. You want to think the world is perfect. Everybody gets sucked into that. And as America has found out to its dismay, you can't hide. You might as well accept the fact that evil is there and deal with it any way you can. Sympathy for the Devil is a song that says, Don't forget him. If you confront him, then he's out of a job." (thanks, Bertrand - Paris, France, for above 2)
candyman
Look at his biceps! You’re in a sinking luxury yacht with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and all of the Rolling Stones. Of the seven of you, there are only three life preservers. Who do you save? (Obviously you leave Keith cuz he’ll survive anyway.)
bled_dry
I don't know if anyone has covered sympathy for the devil, I once heard a cover of paint it black but I couldn't tell you who did it. I love the keith doll idea, it should have little holes in his arm where you can stick needles in. lol! I can't recall the name of the book that inspired the song either, I heard a blurb on the radio after the song was played as an interesting fact sort of thing, I guess his wife at the time had read it and mick did and thus the song is born. If you found it that would be great.

DJ Saint
I've actually heard goth versions of paint it black and sympathy for the devil I'd probably do Gimmie Shelter though. Sister of Mercy totally gothed out "Gimme Shelter". You can find it on the Some Girls Wander By Mistake CD. Decent version. you can grab a listen from this you tube clip - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4kVBdVBn9w Not a big Stones fan... but I'll be damned if they don't deliver some original songs that other bands take and make EXCELLENT cover versions (ie: Sundays covering "Wild Horses" http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x154i0_th...d-horses_music)

Simon Bar Sinister
I have still never seen them play live and in person! You didn;t miss anything. Seriously, they're horrible live. I've seen them twice, and each time the opening bands blew them off the stage. Badly.

StormKnight (1)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcShmwwT1Kg...feature=related Not bad. Though one night (don't know if it was the way the night was going or the fact the whole club was sauced,) but one of the DJs at DC Nation (RIP) started off a set with the original Stones "Paint it, Black." Talk about old school. And the floor was packed to the gills from the start of that set until closing. I was exhausted. And just a thought. Listen to the way Mick sings it. If the above is true, then he is mimicking the duality of man, alternating between the good (softly sung side,) and the evil (the harshly sung side,) until the line "No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue/I could not foresee this thing happening to you," where he seems to have succumbed to the evil side. *soft* I see a red door and I want it painted black No colors anymore I want them to turn black *harsh* I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes I have to turn my head until my darkness goes *soft* I see a line of cars and they're all painted black With flowers and my love both never to come back *harsh* I see people turn their heads and quickly look away Like a new born baby it just happens ev'ry day *soft* I look inside myself and see my heart is black I see my red door and must have it painted black *harsh* Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts It's not easy facin' up when your whole world is black *soft* No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue I could not foresee this thing happening to you <<<Listen carefully. Right on "you," he succumbs to the darker (harsher sung,) side. The rest is sung harshly. If I look hard enough into the settin' sun My love will laugh with me before the mornin' comes I see a red door and I want it painted black No colors anymore I want them to turn black I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes I have to turn my head until my darkness goes Hmm, hmm, hmm,... I wanna see your paint it, paint it, black Black as night, black as coal I wanna see the sun blotted out from the sky I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, paint it, black This is something those who cover it should keep in mind.
