Birth is a beginning

and death a destination

And life is a journey:

From childhood to maturity

and youth to age;

From innocence to awareness

and ignorance to knowing;

From foolishness to desecration

and then perhaps to wisdom.

From weakness to strength or

from strength to weakness

and often back again;

From health to sickness

and we pray to health again.

From offense to forgiveness

from loneliness to love

from joy to gratitude

from pain to compassion

from grief to understanding

from fear to faith.

From defeat to defeat to defeat

until looking backwards or ahead

We see that victory lies not

at some high point along the way

but in having made the journey

step by step

a sacred pilgrimage.

Birth is a beginning

and death a destination

And life is a journey;

A sacred journey to life everlasting

Thank you everyone. It has been hard going since last April. This form of ALS was very progressive and by December she was at the point where she had no use of her arms, legs, torso and eventually her neck muscles. That coupled with the full blown congestive heart failure made her last serveral months utterly miserable and she could find no peace. She has peace now. She dances on the breeze and her smile is in the sunshine.

To all of you, I cannot possibly find the words to express my gratitude and appreciation for each and every one of you. Not only through my mother's disease, but though the bumps in the road of life, I have always known that my DGN family was supporting me and there for me. And this is especially true for the friends I have made here who I kept in contact with off the board. You each were always there for me with support, sympathy, empathy, a word of encouragement or something funny to make me crack a smile. You are truly some of the best, finest and most wonderful individuals I have had the pleasure to call friend and I am blessed.

Marc, you are truly a wonderful man and a wonderful friend. You were always the first to be there for me to lend support and kindness. I am especially blessed that you are a part of my life. I love you.

Thank you, my family, my friends.

Suzy
