Mutton chop sideburns...

Yeah so my mohawk is gone and now...to match my 56' Savoy and my friends Flathead merc' I am growing out my sideburns. However, everyone I have asked has said that sideburns, especially mutton chops, are horrible. Is this really true? Has fashion made sideburns illegal? I see chinstrap beards and other short and finely trimmed styles of facial hair which makes me think that anything long enough to be cut has been turned into a fashion no-no. Just like my mohawk it seems that I will be the only person at school with TRUE sideburns. Sideburns that birds can nest in. Sideburns that would make old Englishmen proud. I just want to know if its cool to grow these bastards...I will do it no matter what but I still want to know. I just want to know that sideburns haven't gone the way of the mohawk...you know where people are too retared or scared to grow a real one.

More power to you for wearing them. I tried them, and they drove me nuts. I hate the way they feel down the side of my face.

And the regs I used to have to wear them in accordance to (must be no more than middle of the ear down,) were frustrating.

I personally keep them off, because my hair gets slick when I am in surgery from the sweat, causing glasses to slip. Having my glasses slip off into a surgical site is considered poor form. Keeping the loops in contact with the skin gives them some holding power.

For me it is not so much fashion (though I never did like the way they looked on me,) but functionality.

Mutton chops either really work or really don't...and usually they don't. If that's MarsDustDoug in his av pic, his m-chops kick ass.

Well, if color has something to do with that I might need to color my chops...the sides are brownish/blonde, then it tapers into and orangish brown, then it goes to a dark brown. You can't notice it from a distance but in the right light and at the right distance it is prismatic...

If I ruled the world no men under 30 would have any type of facial hair, and very few of them over 30 would have any either.

However, it's no big deal, and you should wear it however you want.

If I could not grow hair on my face I would be so happy...but everytime I shave it all comes back in about 10 minutes so it cannot be avoided. As long as its cold and I am too lazy to shave I might as well do something with it before it gets warm, or before my mohawk returns.

If facial hair was an option I would not have checked that box...

There is nothing wrong with having facial hair especially if you groom it.
