Lets call it "semi official" for now. All that needs to happen is get one moderator (or me) to pretty much for sure guarantee they can go to it basically "backing" the event. My health probably wont allow me to say "yeah for sure I'm going". Which could still happen, just hasn't yet. Just for future reference to people reading , if an event is being hardcore pushed as a "official DGN event" it will be at a minimum pinned, and possibly even a PM from me sent out to everyone about it along with perhaps even a special link on the DGN banner at the top of the website.

I edited some of the above posts just so as to not confuse newbies that might be reading this. I'll move the flier up to the top post as well so its easier to read.

I'm guessing it's more with Intellectual Property Rights. If someone said this is an official SCARYGUY event, without asking you if it was okay to call it a Scaryguy event, and really not care one way or the other if Scaryguy himself was going, and called it a Scaryguy event to get Scaryguy fans or members to go there. Wouldn't you at least want to be asked for your permission? Wouldn't that just be proper?

With that being said, I haven't been feeling well lately, but I may show up for a few. I feel that the event has been definitely improving. I can't wait to go again if I don't make it this week.

Panties get in a twist over such things because *deep breath* The name is a privately run board, and people are using the name without asking, so while most of the events that are calling it official are fine, it is endorcing something that the people who run the board (Troy) might now want the name stamped on....

An example is if someone were to through a... oh I don't know... happy fun time Gothic Go Cart Party from 10pm - 2am on a Saturday night.... they make flyers and post it everywhere as an Official DGN event without checking or caring that it conflicts with another DGN event already taking place then.

Another example would be lets say some asshat decides to throw an event that doesn't conflict with another, but it is a Neo Nazi Pro Child Raping event... they are going around with flyers and posting every where they state it is an "Official DGN event" and they did not check it with anyone....

Can you see why any of the above would cause the panty twisting?

I mean some random member can call his house the Official DGN Crackwhore party, and I could declare everytime I jerk off as an official DGN event as well...

The point being, is that generally speaking, you would not want your name, or the name of your orginization being used in ways that have not been checked with you, or okayed.... I mean if that were the case I could set a homeless guy on fire and call it The Official Tigerlili Appreciation burning of a homeless person event.... and you would not be able to have an issue with it.

That makes sense, Phee. Thanks. I know I posted about the sushi night being a DGN event. No one said anything to me, so I didn't think anything of it. But, I can see how that might get out of hand. There are a lot more "DGN" events being advertised on the board lately.

Since when was anyone mad about anyone having an appreciation night? All we were saying was thats claiming it was official and approved by Troy isn't allowed, you can have whatever the fuck night to appreciate DGN all you want for all we care and charge whatever the hell you please. Just when someone takes a name that isn't theirs and takes credit for it acting like it is without permission, yes that organization is going to be pissed, and rightfully so.

I really don't understand what's so hard to understand about that, it's not like we're coming out of the clear blue sky with any of this either, it's nicely pinned right at the top of the Nightlife and Events forum, in plain English, and it's a part of the DGN Code of Conduct.

And this is the second time the event has been posted as a DGN Night (appreciation or official). If people wanted to complain about it they should have done it a month ago on the first night. THEY WERE PM'ING CUPONS FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD!

I'm the president of The Dead Society. EVERY WEEK is now an official Dead Society event there since Nix is running the nights now and Spam is a member and Fats who founded it, Daisy, and a few other members show up every now and again. If I'm not there it's still a TDS event. If five members show up to something and don't tell me, it's a TDS event. However if I don't know about it I can't list it on the site etc... It's seriously not that big of a deal and since most of the members have expressed interest in going to this it should be a DGN night.

Hell I still say it should replace Saturdays because Higgins has never done ANYTHING for the forum or Troy. At least The Ritz is offering half off cupons because they actually WANT your business. All that exists here is the Leland City Club user who promotes both nights and I bet Higgins had no hand in that and the DJ's came up with that idea on their own.

At least that's the way I see things. So I'm going to what I considder to be an official DG.N night because a bunch of other DG.N'ers are going. This forum is made up of more people than just the moderation staff you know.
