In the United States over 21 million Americans suffer from one form or another of diabetes. In Canada, that number is near 5 million. There is no cure

I have suffered from type I diabetes since the age of 7 (28 years now). My name is Ty Hover and I am the founder/chairman of The Ultimate Hike For A Cure. A non-profit organization created to help raise funds and awareness for diabetes research.

I will be hiking with nothing more than the equipment on my back from Detroit, Michigan to Achorage, Alaska in an effort to raise awareness and money for the Cure for Diabetes. The Ultimate Hike for a Cure will take me across some of the wildest, most dangerous, most remote areas of North America and Canada to prove how important it is to me that we find a cure for Diabetes

Thanks for the buzz! I'm second-in-command for raising the fundage for this nifty little thing... I get on for the first time in months (I blame computer hardware failure) to put the word out, and here it is. It's a bit frustrating to be upstaged like this, but I'm sure I'll survive.

Anyhow, please donate! I'm sure most of you know Ty, either from CC or Necto. Let's get some support going here! BTW, he won't take money from anyone with diabetes. He's trying to raise money FOR the cause, not FROM the cause. So if you have it and want to donate, don't let him know you have it. You can donate online, or you can donate in person. Please, every little bit helps. If you want tax paperwork, just let him know. Also, the tshirts are groovy and everything past the materials cost goes to the hike.

If you're interested, he's leaving Mar 21 from Hart Plaza. He's also doing interviews for Men's Health (March issue) and Backpacker (March issue) magazines. If you have a myspace account, go to http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...endID=204113964.

So, in summation, lets give one of our own some love and support. If you can't donate cash, there's other ways to help. Talk to me or Ty for ideas. Even just showing up to send him off would be appreciated. Lets get out there and make a difference people!

Thanks for the donation! I'm sorry to hear about your granny. It's a terrible thing to live with, much less die from. I know that times are hard for everyone, but each and every little bit helps.
