REPO THE GENETIC OPERA!

Recommended Posts

To be blunt at the risk of being flamed, I thought it was a bit cheesy. :sofa:

Though Anthony, the guy from Buffy, has some pipes which surprised me.

You won't get flamed, you're entitled to your own opinion.

I think it was supposed to be as cheesy as possible... kind of the style....

Saying that REPO is too cheesy is kind of like saying that a porn had too much sex in it.

I put it in line with Rocky Horror Picture Show, which was cheese extraordinaire. :) I like cheese..

I'm in love with Alexa Vega (Shiloh) 's voice.. :jealous:

Love. I saw this when it came to Jackson a couple months ago. Very very fun!!

I was disappointed Ogre didn't get more lines/singing opportunities, since he was the main reason I wanted to see it (in addition to Sarah Brightman and just general coolness). Other than that it is awesome. I love the visuals. So pretty. Especially the shots of the city - I like the style.

It was faaaar from perfect, and pretty silly, but also awesome.

It's not that it was cheesy that I objected to, but I thought the pacing was uneven and the composition was weak in a lot of places. The graphic novel cut scenes were great visually but made things draaag, and were generally redundant. The soundtrack is great, but the parts of the music that didn't make it into the soundtrack tended to be really rocky. Also, I thought the ending robbed the whole story of much meaning.

Never heard him sing on Buffy, huh? He's pretty much my favorite singer in the world. Too bad he's a lousy songwriter...

I love that song

makes me cry.. *sniffles*

I love Shilo's (Alexa Vega) voice.

Shilo:

Dad be still,

there is nothing you need say,

it can wait.

Nathan:

Shi, your mother's calling me.

Shilo:

Sometimes I wanted to cry

when the people on TV were not quite the way we were

somehow I guess I just knew.

But I didn't know I'd love you so much

I didn't know I'd love you so much

I didn't know I'd love you so much

but I do.

Nathan:

Sometimes I'd stay up all night

wishing to God that I was the one who died.

Sometimes it's not enough time.

But I didn't know I'd love you so much

I didn't know I'd love you so much

I didn't know I'd love you so much

but I do.

Shilo:

Didn't know I'd love you so much.

Nathan:

Didn't know I'd love you so much.

Both:

Didn't know I'd love you so much

but I do.

Nathan:

Shilo, go.

Shilo:

Dad, I will not leave you here

you will live.

Nathan:

But you've already saved me, dear.

Go and change the world for me.

Both:

We will always have each other

in our time of need

(Shilo) Daddy, you're the world to me.

(Nathan) Shilo, you're the world to me.

That's clearly one of about 3 decent songs in the movie. It's actually really good. The sad thing about this movie is how few of the songs are tolerable...or, well, songs. You know, with melody and stuff. XD

I do love this one though. It's just....wonderful. How did the same person write this as wrote 'dad will leave geneco to me' and most of the rest of it??? Graverobber's song, Chase the Morning, and this one...that's about it.

I finally finally finally got around to buying the DVD on Saturday, so I watched it last night. So purty...

It's odd how people like different songs in the movie and other people will be like "dude...that song totally sucked". My friends group has pretty much decided that all of the songs in the movie are alright unless they have Shilo in them....EXCEPT the song in the beginning and Chase the Morning. I guess that one she sings with her dad before they go out on stage toward the end (trying not to spoil it too bad) is alright, but mostly due to the fact that Repo Man can SING. Imo, some of the best songs in the movie, or tid bits of songs even, were any song that had Rotti Largo, Graverobber or Sarah Brightman, and Ogre rocks of course .

Eh...it was mediocre in my opinion.

I really didn't care for the majority of music, and I don't just mean the singing. I was unimpressed with the song writing.

Some of the visuals were cool, while others just kind of screamed low-budget to me.

Watched it a few hours ago.........We love cheesy movies, musical, rock opera's, and the whole lot, but we just weren't feeling the cheese factor on this one. Maybe I have to watch it more than once to really feel the cheese......to get my hands in it like the Repo Man...... The first time I saw Shock Treatment, the follow up to Rocky Horror, I was disappointed. And then I watched it a couple of times, and now I love it!!

As for Repo, breaking it all down....I think the way they filmed it was absolutely beautiful, the cast all had great singing voices, the instrumentation rocked it out, and it was a fabulous concept overall. While I enjoyed it, in the end, I just feel a little **mmmeh** about it. I agree with Osaka....many of the songs didn't feel like actual songs. Much of the singing was more about the regular dialogue between characters versus an actual song about what was going on.

Okay, now that I've poo-poo'd on a it a little, I'm going to go out with my millions, and lack of personal talent and creativity, and make the most awesome dark opera ever!! Aside from my little poo-poo, many kudos to everyone who worked on this as, all in all, it truly is a beautiful movie.
