Mechanize - Friday April 3rd (FREE before 1am)

I'm glad I made it out for a bit, and it was great to see the Works hopping last night! Scary Guy and Nocker both played a lot of great tunes. I also saw several DGNers there. I only stayed for about an hour and a half due to my Saturday morning shift. I was also feeling kind of loopy from being sick this week. But, I definitely enjoyed myself.

It was packed. I think everyone who didn't show up to Wednesday was waiting for this night to come out. I saw a LOT of people and my only complaint was party foul the drunken grandma. Next time I'm not letting her in if I'm working the door.

I'm also happy to say that this WILL be a monthly event probably the last friday of every month. The next one is sometime in May and I hope to see many of the same faces again, and hopefully some new ones... except party foul. I just knew that was going to be trouble when I let her in. I don't know if I'm allowed to turn people away or not but next time I'm definitely sending her down the street to the other bar if she shows up.

Glad to hear that this will be a monthly event! I like the Works. It's clean. The bartenders make great drinks that aren't overpriced like they are at some other clubs. The music is great, and the DJs actually take your requests. There's food. What's not to like?

UPDATE: I guess the announcement was a bit premature as this might not be going on... I think if we do there will be drama between us and City Club, and Higgins is friends with the owner of The Works (I've actually seen him at The Works too). I think we should do it anyway but no one cares what I think.

I hope this becomes a regular event but I kinda saw this coming a mile away, mostly because I know how the other club operates.

It does make it awfully hard for us to decide. I love that there's always so much going on around here, but it's so difficult sometimes!! So many nights with multiple things going on that I want to go to... I'm not saying no one else should do anything on Fri or Sat, of course...but it's just hard...

I know how I feel, personally, I hate City. However at the moment it's the ONLY thing open on the weekend... so Friday and Saturday might as well be a Sunday for me as far as clubs go... well unless a pretty thing happens to drag me.

It really is hard to hate a place when a good majority of your friends go there, same with Necto (although I actually like that place as a club).

I guess Cybil also banned DJ Grimm for six months because he handed out fliers for the event in the club, after Mike told him he could (maybe he didn't mention the Friday Mechanize side, maybe he did, I don't actually know). Although it will probably be more like two months.

Personally I say go give your money to a club that appreciates its customers and shows it by using some of the money made to effect repairs on the place. Higgins won't spend a dime unless he has to, and I've met so many other club owners that think the same way. You almost have to beat the money out of them for new equipment.

I don't blame them. Girls with strawberries on their clothes are almost always FEROCIOUS. we think everyone who comes to talk to us is trying to eat our strawberries, and we have to defend them to the death - almost always of the unassuming innocent who just wanted to say 'cute ring!'. It's almost certainly for the best that they stayed away...I may look sweet and kind, but get too close, and.... Carnage. No one wants to see that.
