TheOsakaKoneko
If the venue has a food license then you should be good to go. Which both The Works and The Ritz have. Most clubs don't care either and will let you order out from what I've seen or bring in home made goods. However those aren't sold usually either so I don't know. I do know that having lemons, limes, and even the ice for drinks requires a special lesser food license, or at least that's what I was told. I've been meaning to check into the specifics of that but navigating government websites can be really annoying. http://www.michigan.gov/dleg/0,1607,7-154-10570---,00.html I would just take extra care to look into it, since these would be uncontrolled food items brought in by individuals rather than prepared by the establishment, and one never can be 100% sure what is in them or how they were prepared. I'm not saying anyone would do anything bad, but legally, a place would want to cover itself. People have bake sales all the time, so I'm sure it's not a big deal, but probably we'd just want to be sure.

If anything went wrong the government holds the venue responsible which would probably hold you responsible.

sexslavetrainer
I don't know what space and bandwidth the forum requires. And, I don't know if you're in a term contract with the present host. Also don't know what services etc you require. But, I would be happy to donate some hosting space and bandwidth from my company if it would help out. Troy, just pm me if this would be of any help... Leland City Club
More ppl should donate to DGN, whatever the amount to keep DGN going strong. Not everyone has $60 or $120 to donate all at once. If you hang out on DGN and enjoy being here, and making new friends, how much do you VALUE DGN? Maybe you have $5, $10, or $20 you could give as a 1 time donaton for a bumper sticker or something. Every $1 helps to offset the costs of keeping DGN growing. The Street Team, Mods and Staff are not paid positions, your donations go to maintaining the site and building DGN. I hope everyone gives what they can ! ! ! How much is City Club willing to give considering that Saturdays have been "DGN night" for a LONG time now and that has shunted lots of foot traffic your way? By a long time, I mean since 2004 http://www.detroitgothic.net/index.php?showtopic=22 (I didn't bother looking on the old forum. Lets say 5 DGN'ers come per Saturday since that point. They bring more than that but I'm being modest for the example. That's $20 if they pay $4 for admission. *4 for around 4 Saturdays a month = $80 * 12 for twelve months in the year = $960 * the past four years = $3840 (which by the way, would be enough to buy our own really bad ass webserver). Keep in mind DGN usually brings in more people than that too. So how much is Mike willing to donate to the cause? We already give DGN a discount over at The Ritz and I'm trying to work out a similar deal with The Works.

Leland City Club
Leland CITY CLUB is a "DGN Benefactor". We see the value in DGN and want to see it thrive. We like the ppl on DGN and it is our honor to host DGN Saturday Nights here at Leland CITY CLUB. We are also proud to be the 1st venue to host a special DGN APPRECIATION night, that was so much FUN we can't wait to do it again ! ! ! We are also the 1st venue to become a SUPPORTER or BENEFACTOR of DGN ! ! ! This thread is, however, not about our club, it is at its heart about SUPPORTING DGN. It is our great hope and our challenge to ALL venues / promoters / performance troops and alike, who are here on DGN promoting their events will ALL follow Leland CITY CLUB's lead and help to support DGN. It is one thing to talk about supporting DGN, its even easier to say that the few who do, should do it all. WE all benefit from DGN, and its about time that WE ALL SUPPORT DGN ! ! ! We can't wait to see DGN with many more SUPPORTERS and BENEFACTORS. We have given and will continue to give, have U ? ? ? If you have, awesome. If you haven't yet, please do. If you can't right now, please do what you can when you can. PLEASE SUPPORT DGN ! ! ! Thank U DETROIT . . . . . I don't think I've ever seen you guys do an appreciation night, they host their night there and call it just "DGN NIGHT". The first venue to do this was actually The Ritz and they showed that with coupons specific to DGN. All City Club has ever done was take the money. I didn't say the city club account on here should donate money I said MIKE. The DJs and staff pooling resources together is nothing (ok it is nice, and DGN does appreciate it I'm sure, and you're all good people) but I want to see the owner make a contribution. Even if he chips in a dollar out of his own pocket I'll be impressed but I think he's too cheap to do even that. You're also the first account for a venue to become a supporter or benefactor of DGN. It should be noted that The Works, The Ritz, and Necto do not have accounts on here for promotion. The DJs and staff do it themselves. I highly doubt that Mike and Cybil really care enough to check out the forum or be a part of it. Let's see THEM post on here. Also, let's see you get on the street team and put up some posters in the club as well if you like it so much.

CORRECTION: The 1st OFFICIAL DGN APPRECIATION night was actually @ Leland CITY CLUB on SAT, DEC.27, 2008. Where were U? It was a FUN night where many DGNers got to meet others for the 1st time. Just ask any of the nearly 100 people from DGN who attended. There is a 10+ page thread with prolly over 400 comments on it, feel free to check it out. Its nice to know that other venues have had DGN Appreciation nights, we hope EVERY venue does something for the good ppl of DGN. WE are PROUD to be the first account for a venue to become a supporter or benefactor of DGN, and: AGAIN, we CALL ON ALL promoters, venues, and EVERYONE ELSE who promotes on DGN to actually support DGN ! ! ! That is what this thread is all about, SUPPORTING DGN, not personal attacks against a club owner. We like that DGN is a forum to freely discuss ideas in a friendly and respectful manner. We are excited to work with DGN to develope even more ways to support DGN going foreward, and we hope EVERYONE else will do the same ! ! ! In the end, this is not about our club or U, this is all about SUPPORTING DGN ! ! ! We have, we do, we will ! ! ! Scary Guy
http://www.detroitgothic.net/index.php?showtopic=26243 so I stand corrected. I was personally not in a building that should have been condemned long ago, but we all know my feelings about the place. Oh wait http://www.detroitgothic.net/index.php?sho...gn+mephisto%27s Necto in 05 http://www.detroitgothic.net/index.php?sho...gn+mephisto%27s Mephisto's in 05. I tried getting them to move the official night from City to Mephisto's for as long as I can remember. Giving free admission to all DGN members and free drinks to Troy. We actually got him in there one night and it was quite fun. Too bad it didn't work out though, although the reasons for that escape me. Maybe Troy can help jog my memory on this. Also my attacks against CC aren't personal, as many share my views on the place and how it is run. I also throw stones to make things better and address issues that I think are serious. Scary Guy
Oh I agree, but that still doesn't address my issues. We all know this thread is about supporting DGN. But DGN supports City Club and I just think that DGN should have higher standards. Sorry Not that anyone listens to anything I have to say anyway, so don't worry about it
TheOsakaKoneko
You know, Scary, it does work both ways though. City Club gives a lot of DGNers a second home (admittedly not all DGNers like City, but there are a lot of us who do). It's not perfect, but it is our home anyway, and we love it. DGNers don't go to City Club selflessly - they go because they want to. Probably most who go now would go anyway even without 'DGN Night'.

Still I'd like to see them do something special for DGN members, weekly or even monthly. Discounted price or free drinks for Troy. I wonder if Mike has ever gone up to him and said "Hey, I know you run that thing online that directs traffic our way and I wanted to say thank you for helping bring people into my club over the years". You know rather than him just expecting DGN'ers to show up every week and get their money.

Troy Spiral (13)
The board has been pretty consistent and speedy the last few months I've not noticed any problems (nor had any significant complaints). Surpizing you'd have trouble with PMs reaper. As far as the board "speed" is concerned, PMs, Post, Comments, edits and such should all happen at pretty much the same (humanly detectable speed) I'm guessing its not a browser issue. I regularly use IE7, Fx and Chrome (for random testing purposes) and they are all pretty snappy.

Jessika Fxckin rocks (1)
Well since we have city and such people that work at bars arround here could we not get them to let us have a fundrasier of sorts like on a weeknight cause if say we could get them to let us use there place with part of the cost to get in going to dgn. And I'm sure we have enought talented people on here willing to perfrom. Say for example if we go to a place where its normally 4 to get in and everyone pays 15 thats about 10 per person for dgn plus whatever other things we cold be selling there to make money for dgn Hell I'll have a damn bake sale if I have too.
