Bella Morte

Based out of Charlottesville, Virginia, Bella Morte was formed in 1996. Since their beginnings, the band has quickly become one of the solid standing fixtures in the gothic rock genre as one of the new touring and writing monsters of our subculture. Creating solid hard hitting sounds that are unapologetic, at times brash and at others deeply inspirational, their unique mix of electronic, goth, deathrock, punk and metal makes for a bittersweet and heavy blend of tracks that entrances people from many different genres.

Always attempting to adapt their style and never be stagnant, the act recently released Beautiful Death (Metropolis Records) a mix of dark driving rock anthems with electronic sequences that create a one of a kind listening experience. Bella Morte doesn't seem as interested in reinventing the wheel as they do in coming out with songs that they think you will want to listen to; catchy, simple, and effective. If you've ever wanted to see what Mesh would sound like with heavy guitars, this is your thing. If you think The Birthday Massacre is a giant among men, this is for you.

No spring chickens to the live circuit (the band played a staggering 53 date US tour in 2001 with the Cruxshadows), Darque Productions is proud to welcome Bella Morte to Detroit for a performance that is sure to be engaging.

Ego Likeness

Ego Likeness was created by artist Steven Archer and writer Donna Lynch in Baltimore in 1999. Their music has ranged from raw, darkly experimental trip-hop (Songs From a Dead City, 1999) to moody and melodic electronica (Dragonfly, 2000/2005 DFD) to a fusion of industrial rock and darkwave (Water to the Dead, 2004 DFD & The Order of the Reptile, 2006 Dancing Ferret Discs). Coming from art-based backgrounds, Archer and Lynch incorporate their various non-musical projects into the albums, building connections between their creations. EL has been signed to Dancing Ferret Discs since 2004.

Ego Likeness may be hard to categorize, but remain easy to listen to ! Breathy female vocals overflowing with emotion, both positive and negative, expertly convey the triumph of survival and the anguish of damage expressed in the lyrics. Musically similar to Cruxshadows, Collide or Curve in their ability to utilize both ethereal / trip hop and straight up dark pop elements.

They have had the honour to share the stage with The Cruxshadows, Voltaire, The Damned, New Model Army, Ayria, Collide, Razed in Black, Bella Morte, Das Ich, Rasputina, Iris, The Azoic, Combichrist, and many others. Now Detroiters get the chance to see this outstanding act once again.

    • Well it happened, understandably but it still sucks.  I hated them both so I was going to be unhappy either way, but I do admit I hate Trump slightly more because of the narcissism, egomania, xenophobia, and misogyny.  On top of that that insufferable base of his who think that they are free to act the same way now that he's won.  The apologetics from them were horrible too where they handwaved away legitimate criticisms, and mocking those who brought them with "orange man bad!"   The one good thing to come out of this is punk music is going to absolutely rock for the next few years.  However I really just have one question... https://www.loudersound.com/features/andrew-eldritch-sisters-of-mercy-will-make-another-album-if-trump-is-elected IT'S HAPPENED TWICE NOW ANDY, WHERE'S OUR FUCKIN' ALBUM‽ Well, I guess at least I'll get to keep my guns.

    • Nope. Not that I mind singing, but I don't want to scare attendees with a rendition of that.
