Homicidalheathen
I have rented space at Pontiac lake/trails...private areas out N of here but west of Port huron...most of my camping was done out west. I am looking for places I can get away from crowds easy that are not to far away and we are going to the dunes this summer, sleeping bear dunes...I have never been. http://www.cnn.com/2009/TRAVEL/03/26/campi...nomy/index.html its not cheap though by any means, I need a new tent. And mattress.

candyman
Camping...with a mattress? Well, there is a place over here by Big Rapids where, if you are into watersports, you can have alot of fun. Fishing, water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, or just riding in a high powered speedboat...and the whole place parties every night. Or there are the dunes where you rent a buggy and go ape shit for a few hours...

jynxxxedangel
Pere Marquette National Forest is my absolute fave. Get a permit, and pick a spot anywhere. You don't see many other campers out there, as it is not divided into lots, nor are there any outhouses or showers. Just woods.

Rayne
At the Ritz-Carlton? I'm with Shade on this one. i got quite "camped out" when I was younger. To the point where I don't enjoy it anymore. It is no fun to get up at 4 am to drive into school from the campground when you have a perfectly fine house in town that your parents refuse to stay at. candyman
Boundary Waters! Give me six quarts of water, a knife, and three days rations and I am good.
StormKnight (1)
Around a friend's private pond as a group. Hot summer days, no one around to disturb us. Ah, the fun of only packing a toothbrush, soap towel, and one set of clothes for a weekend (broken out on Sunday night.)
chevy
There are a number of good spots in Michigan to go camping and to have family fun. But if you really want to get away from everyone and everything head north. The farther you go the more sucluded it will be. I grew up in the u.P. There is no better camping then going way up there. If you want a campsite you can do that way or if you talk to locals they can tell you all the really really good spots to go camping. If you want to sink alot of money into it the absolute best place is on Isle Royale, but you have to pay for the boat to take you out there and back. But the wildlife is great. you can litterally stand 2 feet from a moose and it wont even pay you any attention. Its a nation park so no hunting there. Also no bears either. But it can get costly so make sure you take a good look into it first.

TitsMcGee
I worked at Clear Lake State Park in Atlanta, MI a few summers ago, it's a beautiful park. I myself am not that big on camping. Everytime I'm in a tent it freaking rains on me.

Draco1958
Brighton State Park is a very nice campground. Not usually crowded, nice lake to swim in. Close enough to town so if you need something, it's not a long drive yet far enough away that it's quiet.
